The point I was Trying to make was, Yes anything she drops right now is a Smash. Concerning Rihanna, hits don't always equate good songs in my opinion, though I absolutely LOVE Disturbia. "If I Never See Your Face Again" was alright, but I hated "Take a Bow". Even so, I think the credit should go moreso to the producers for creating hot beats. Rihanna's voice does go well with some of her dancey songs, but let's face it, she's done her fair share of butchering otherwise promising songs (ie: "Unfaithful"). With that being said, her album was great and she seems like a great girl, but I don't think all the credit should belong to her for churning hits. That's what having top producers/promotion is for.
I'm not hating, but I felt like giving my five cents on Rihanna without trying to be a hater or Stan. In Beyonce's case, I think it's the opposite--she has a very capable voice, but some of the material she's given to work with is WACK.

I can understand the hate towards Rihanna, but I can also understand why Billboard would call her the 'premire artist.'
The thing many of you have to remember is that GGGB has sold over 5 million world wide. She may have gone only platinum in the US with 7 singles but she isn't on the same status as Justin Timberlake, Usher, Beyonce, or Alicia Keys who can sell AT LEAST 3 million + in the US alone.
Hate to compare, but as the industry is slumping right now, Madonna only manages to sell 1 mill in the US but does about 5-8 million total worldwide with her last few albums which is FAR FROM A FLOP. Look @ the Big picture. Every single off GGGB with the exception of "Shut Up & Drive" hit the top 10, 5 or top 3 (with her 2 hits from this album being Take a Bow & Umbrella). She's an international star and you can't deny it.
I think she's improved entertainment wise, but still has some ways to go where as her peers like Ciara can easily KILL IT on stage. Rihanna is faaaaaaaaar better than Cassie, so please give her credit there and her albums/singles do better and sell well than Cassie's so she's one step above.
Watching Rihanna's face as she watched Ciara and Chris Brown on stage made me think that she was thinking about how she needs to STEP UP her game.
Sidenote: I read in an interview that GGGB was inspiried by Brandy's Aphrodisiac because she wanted "every song on the album to be single worthy potential," like Brandy's. That was a UNDERRATED Brandy album that flopped but all the songs on there (with the exception of 2) were single worthy potential. GGGB has the same appeal but with a different sound.
Rihanna is on fire. She's released 3 albums in less than 2 yrs/3 yrs. People aren't tired of her yet. Whatever she drops next years needs to be one step higher because she's reaching a crucial period in her career for oversaturation.
I really hope she does well with releasing "Rehab" as the last single off GGGB because that song is truly amazing. It's always been a favorite and they better not get lazy with the video.
For the record, no other pop singer will be the next Madonna. Britney fucked it up and Christina isn't edgy enough despite her attempts at coming close. Rihanna DOES have potential but I feel as though she's not willing to take extreme risks.

Its's interesting that you say that because many critics wrote off Madonna and Britney when they first debuted (same goes with Janet)...and they are legends today...Possibly the same could apply to Rihanna.
