Didn't the person who posted the video say the video is not in sync with the performance? I believe she was singing at the beginning then afterwards the video was not matching up with the audio.

Ashanti sounded great! I don't live for Ashanti or whatever, but I like this song and it has the potential to be really big with a good video and good live performances.. and she's not lip synching.. You can hear the track separately from her vocals.
I take that back.. despite the video being off anyway, she IS doing a mixture of lip-synching AND singing low.. but I mean, damn.. how hard is it for her folks to get her an instrumental version with just the chorus? It woulda been kinda dumb for her to sing her lungs out and her vocals are already blasting out the track (like she did in another youtube performance)

It wouldn't have hurt her to sing live. Beyonce does it all the time - dances AND sings live. Even when she's convulsing. To me, that was a disappointing performance. She put in a half-assed effort. If I were a fan I'd be pissed but I'm not paying money to see her so whatev.

It hurts my heart to have to agree with RNBLover! As a die-hard Beyonce fan, I keep quiet when people say Beyonce sounds great live while dancing. Truth is, she doe pre-record CERTAIN parts of her tracks. Take Freakum Dress and Green Light on The Beyonce Experience for example. All the ad-libs at the end are pre-recorded, pretty much the notes that would strain her vocals. But the difference with Beyonce and other artists is that she CAN actually hit those notes. It's just difficult to while dancing. You still have to respect her for taking the time to pre-record the tracks and give us something that appears to be real. Well, it is real. Just not all of it!
Beyonce usually lip syncs the chorus, everyone does. Espicially since that's when she dances the most. She almost ALWAYS sings live. I don't think Ashanti Lip Sync'd a greater part of this song. And I'm sick of yall trying to making excuses to say this girl can't sing. Give her some fucking props damn, it's a good song, and she can sing - i just wish she would release the video, im sick of these low quality live performances.

Let's talk about Rihanna stomping up and down the stage in her black K-Mart velco hightops while her dancers steal the show. If you're gonna dog anyone out for not putting on a "good performance", you need to be putting Rihanna's ass on blast. As many times as that bitch has been to a Beyonce concert, you'd think she'd pick up some tips.
As for the performance, sounds to me like she was singing for the first 2 minutes and she sounded fine. You can definitely tell that she's lip synching the 2nd half though just due to the fact that the song doesn't sound as loud as it does during the first 2 minutes when she's actually singing. I love this song and I can't wait to see the video for it.
Backing tracks are not lip synching. What people gotta understand is it's not humanly possible to sing every line in a song and so the backing track fills in what can't be done, where as the lead vocals are sung live.

Rihanna TRIES. Her stage presence has definitely improved over the years. I am not saying she's a brilliant performer. I am not THAT deluded. One of the biggest tests in being an artist is IMPROVEMENT and evolving as an artist and Rihanna has done exactly that with her sound, image AND performances. People all over the world have PAID to see Rihanna in concert so obviously, she's doing something right! Ashanti has been in the business much longer than Rihanna and she has NEVER headlined her own tour.

The point I was trying to make is that she never needed to dance to the type of song she was singing to which would make singing live a much easier experience for her. I never said I expected her to dance to that song. I genuinely thought Rihanna's NRJ performance was fun. She wasn't doing much but you could see she was enjoying her performance. It was lively. She had the crowd on their feet and even interacted with them.
T ~ It amazes me that you can kiss Rihanna's no talent ass and turn around in the next breath a dog someone who's in a similar situation. Ashanti may not be a great performer (and Beyonce has set a pretty high bar for that now), but atleast she's got some vocal ability. Rihanna has missed out on both of those boats.

Ashanti did an worldwide tour in 02 with the inc but she has said she doesnt like to leave home for too long so she prefers not to tour much which is why she only joins tours now for a couple of dates and bounces.
Ashanti stays true to herself, writes her own hits, and has a greeat personality (some say its fake but what u want the girl to be on 106 monotone and boring aka like beyonce?) People relate to her and her songs because, although the SINGLES are simple (just bc a single is simple doesnt mean the rest of the album is), she talks about real life ish we all go through in plain terms. Just because she isn't a belter doesn't mean she can't sing.

Rihanna was 4 singles deep with a worldwide number 1 song (umbrella) by august 07 (she dropped in june 07 i think) and she had only sold 650,000. ummm helllooooooo? am i the only one seein that this is a club and she was the host. ashanti was singing live on some parts and of course it was playin while she was singing. she did the launch of the song, she released it. so they had to hear the original verse. ashanti is a great singer.
