My idea is to ban marrige between Baptists. I find their "kind" rather unsavory. It would also be nice to have them spayed and neutered.
My idea is for every couple, gay or straight, to have civil unions.
Then, whatever religious ceremony of their choice that they want to perform is entirely separate from that.
Ah Gage...once again, such great common sense on issues that have been blown WAY out of proportion by the American right-wing.
Of COURSE it's ridiculous that two men or two women being married would undermine a heterosexual marriage! It's all so deeply rooted in hatred and fear, like Christianity itself.
And I particularly agree about Jesus being a liberal kind of guy. I actually think I might have liked him. But too much blood has been spilt and too many people live guilt-filled, repressed lives for me to be okay with most of what Christianity has done in the past 2000 years.
Some smart points, as usual.
Oh, and I don't think they will, but don't let your detractors get you down, particularly the people who are offended by the word "retard." The moral high ground is not a lonely place these days, but it is populated by the self-righteous, and I'd hate for you (or anyone else, for that matter!) to be brought down by them.

A lot of the guys roaming parks looking for blow jobs are married. The sanctity of marriage and the responsibility of family does nothing to change what people are at the core of their being. Why not let gay people marry and have kids? A lot of gay people go through with straight-marriage so they can live up to society's expectations. Many of them either live miserably or break up their marriage so they can pursue the relationships they want with someone of their own gender. Wouldn't there be more stable families if gay people started out marrying who they want to marry and not who religious nuts want them to marry.
