Gravatar I would take the 2nd pair back to John Lewis and get them replaced. It won't be any skin off of John Lewis' nose. As you've experienced, Simple have a lot to answer for in durability. Seems to me like they didn't test their products in the most basic way. John Lewis as retailer will no doubt be in touch with the Simple rep and provide the negative feedback. Seeing as you've innocently destroyed 2 pairs, it's likely Simple are well aware of other returned items and will pull their socks up.

Gravatar I have a real issue with things falling apart like that - I HATE throwing things away, even though they are utterly useless - I've 2 old pairs and 1 odd slipper under my bed because I can't bare the idea of them cluttering up a landfill! - and that's just slippers, image what I'm like with broken irons, ironing boards ..... Is it true that manufactures deliberatley make things with a short life so you have to buy more?? Why can't we bring back the palces were you could go and get thing like irons or even slippers repaired??

Gravatar I've mentioned these on my own blog today - http://tinyurl.com/nd9vp5

Gravatar When I was in Norwich last, I went to an old fashioned shoe repair shop just off Earlham Rd. I'm always happy to see places like that - not sure if they'd do slippers though!

Gravatar I have a pair of slippers, not marketed as sustainable, but not containing leather and mostly made of fabric, they've lasted for years and have one small hole in them. They'll last another few years I guess.

Gravatar CGP, where did you get them from?

Gravatar I have a pair of slippers which have done exactly the same as yours i.e. the tops have worn away even though, like you, I haven't caught them on anything; I went on the Simple website and discovered they no longer sell them; what a surprise!
