Ah, the Viking. My eyes start to cross just thinking about it. To borrow a phrase, you could get anything you want at the Viking Bar.

Rest in Peace.

There was a single year when I wondered why I moved to Saint Paul. Now I wonder why Downtown Minneapolis was ever appealing.

The police that are left are busy staking out bars to get easy DUI arrests. Drunks don't shoot back.

The Cops that are left are busy holding back the ocean with a mop, that is handling all the shootings, stabbings, robberies, and the countles piss ant calls like "people talking too loudly", "cars driving down a street too loudly", "people laughing nearby", "people walking down the street pointing at houses", etc. (real calls, look them up.) Cops don't stake out the bars. You're right about the easy DUI's you don't have to look too hard for a DWI in Mpls, its usually the one who smashes into several parked cars, t-bones another drunk, runs head on into a bridge support, etc.

.08 doesn't hurt business, the City does. Don't know if you've had too much? Take a cab, call a friend, pass out in a dumpster, etc. Pretty cheap compared to a DWI arrest or hurting / killing someone.

Where's our old friend Bob?

Yeah, where the hell is Bob anyway?
