When i first read the reports I kept thinking to myself "I wonder if this guy is a repub or a dem." I had it figured out before I finally reached the part of the story that outed him as being left leaning due to the lack of clarification early in the story. Pretty sad.

The Ap gets around to his party affiliation in graph 13. But they don't actually say Deomocrat. Instead the only party mentioned is Republican.

Time magazine had named him "Crusader of the Year" when he was attorney general and the tabloids proclaimed him "Eliot Ness."

"Democrat" is the first word under the headline on the STrib header, and it's the first word of the second paragraph in the linked story.

Ed - as I posted it at 3:30 this afternoon, the Star Tribune had NO MENTION of Spitzer's party until paragraph 6 of their story. If they have changed it since then, good for them. They are getting the message.

It sounds like Spitzer is not resigning until he works out the plea deal.......

Yup they're changing the copy in these stories. Apparently they were embarassed by the right wing noise machine. We were not the only ones to pick up on the glaring lack of party identification after reporting all republicans trouble with huge type in the headline like REPUBLICAN SCANDAL!!

I'm really amused by the AP/CNN/NYTimes story (all the same copy) I noted above where they said republican twice but never uttered the word democrat. The special touch was the phrase embarrass Senate Republican tossed in at paragraph 15.

Well Al, I don't give a shit if people smoke in bars but we seem to have laws against that.

There is the Mann act that makes it illegal to transport women over interstate borders for paid sex. There are banking laws that Mr. Sptizer enforced with a vengence when he was AG and then there is the law against prostitution.

If we are going to get into selective enforcement of laws between consenting adults, I have a list I'd like to submit for exemption.

Wasn't what Larry Craig and David Vinter between consenting adults? the left seems to get pretty riled about them.

Evidently, end of day Tuesday, Spitzer was known to be consorting with the consorts from 2002.

When it is found out on Wednesday that Spitzer used government time, not funds, a silver spoon liberal, it's gonna get far worse. Far worse.

The irony is that HRC PLEADED with him for the endorsement. He didn't care for her much. so she had to make a showing in her own "state" and plead for his acceptance.

Spitzer's name got wiped off her web page faster than a dingleberry on my ass.

At the same time our resident lefties are defending the crusading law and order white knight, they call us hypocrites.

My point was that despite the circumstantial evidence against him, he is a good lawyer and has surely hired a great firm to defend him. There is probably not enough to get a conviction in court, its a victimless crime, and he has resigned.

I would feel the same way about Craig but the asshole wont resign.

It is time we went back to the belief that you brake the law or violate your oath of office you pay for your crime we can no longer sit around with the view that is prevalent in our lawmakers and law enforcers that want to water down the crime committed and give them a second, third, or forth chance.
