This has nothing to do with the merits of Universal Health care. While I can understand you would be defensive about how overweight people are treated, isn't this more of an immigration policy question? Don't we make economic factors relevant in immigration decisions like H1Bs? |
So it's open borders for Mexicans, but closed for fat people? |
SMUN...I think you need to read it again. |
The policy makes sense in a socialized medicine setting. I wonder what the policy is in regards to diabetes, Crones, heart disease, etc? |
Smun is in tip top physical condidtion, and a socialist. |
Diabetes is easy to figure out. You will be required to lose weight or lose coverage. |
SMUN is a weight-ist. It is very fashionable on the left right now to discriminate against over weight people, yet drug and alcohol addictions are "diseases". |

Yes once the government has taken over control of the health care system, all diseases will be viewed as personal failings. |
or Type II diabetic that are insulin dependent because they pancreases is dead losing wight will not cure mine |
Diabetes isn't quite so easy; it's not just weight, but also sugar intake and such. |
New Zealand just wants to make sure that prospective residents live long enough to make a significant contribution (in taxes) to socialized health care before reaping the sub-standard benefits. |
Whatever happened to "personal responsibility?" I thought that was the creed of the Radical Right. If you are a lard ass, it's only fair you should have to pay more for your health insurance than if you take care of yourself. Likewise, if you smoke, don't make ME subsidize your stupid self-destructive behavior. How very amusing it is to see a callous a-hole turn all touchy-feely when it hits close to home. |
And another liberal misses the point. |
Jake...did you even BOTHER to read the posts or the threads? |
If it's private insurance then EVERTHING must be covered until the system is overloaded and ready to colapse. |
"You drove to work. You should have moved into the sustainable urban core and rode your bike. Now you're fat. For this affront no healthcare for you." |
I like it!! If you're stupid enough to raise your stress level by living in the burbs and driving thru rush hour, we won't provide coverage. It thins out the gene pool, we get less cars on the road and we can turn the freeways into bike lanes and LRT tracks. |
How about if you're stupid enough to live in the city and get shot by some degenerate? Can we just leave you in a pool of your own blood, thereby thinning out the gene pool? |
"Can we just leave you in a pool of your own blood, thereby thinning out the gene pool?" We have plenty of school monitors around that can take me to the hospital. Or maybe Marines -- either one. |
Kermit...as much as I don't like Al...I think that's a tad over the line. |
How about "if someone's stupid enough"? |
As long as private health care remains an option what's the problem if the state wants to run a fascist system? If you have private health care you can live your life, if you want me to pay for it you have to live the "Utopian" life. |
