"One of them is inclined to hysteria and bandwagon mentalities." Now that is funny, stupid, but funny.

Ridding ourselves of Middle East oil reliance has a ton of other benefits outside of whether or not it affects global warming.

Now that is funny, stupid, but funny.
Rather like a Code Pink demonstration.

Nice work kermit...on the post and the code pink comment.

Exactly Anon, now lets start drilling in ANWAR and off the coast.

"now lets start drilling in ANWAR and off the coast." No, lets drive less and come up with some viable energy alternatives to ethanol.

You go ahead al. the rest of us will live in the real world where we need to build some fucking nuclear power plants, build more refineries, and drill where we KNOW we have oil to REDUCE OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

probably should mention we don't get that much from the middle east, certainly not as much as every lib suggests. a large portion of what we use in teh states comes from canada and south america, but why quibble over facts, huh?

Now, let's get to drilling in ANWR.

Dudes! When the last of the oil has run out, do we seriously think that the rest of the world will let us not drill in ANWR to make life easier for the caribou. What are you people smoking? Can I have some?

Just make liberals walk everywhere.

"now lets start drilling in ANWAR and off the coast." No, lets drive less and come up with some viable energy alternatives to ethanol.

Al, Let's drill AND find some viable alternative to ethanol. Both can be accomplished without the intervention of gov't. As for driving less, that means the gov't will mandate, or at least tax 'excessive' mileage (whatever excessive means).

"Let's drill AND find some viable alternative to ethanol." I totally agree. But ANWR by an estimate will only produce enough oil for about two years consumption. It makes no sense to spoil that area for a two year supply.

"As for driving less, that means the gov't will mandate, or at least tax 'excessive' mileage (whatever excessive means)." Or, if you want to drive a Suburban, you pay a significant tax at purchase time. We should have had small gas tax increases every year since 9/11 to offset the cost of the war etc. The economy would be no worse off than it is now.

And Exxon is certainly doing well from the higher prices.

Nope, HLL/Al doesn't advocate tax increases at all.

By drilling in ANWR and off the coasts, we can access enough oil to eliminate the middle east entirely. But folks like you don't want that because you'd rather we "find alternatives". Hogwash. It's high time we do what is best for the country, not what liberal special interests want. Moving forward and growing hte economy is what we need, not taking two steps back and crippling our economy by doing what Al and now Pres. Clinton want us to do. Or did you miss that recent announcement from Bill where he said we need to slow down the economy to stop MMGW?

Does ANY republican think we need to slow down the economy to stop MMGW? If you do, you're not a republican.

"It's high time we do what is best for the country, not what liberal special interests want." You are so right. It was liberals who took the country to war, marginalized citizen rights, and trashed the economy.

"Moving forward and growing hte economy is what we need," Oh, you mean like the past seven years? Record deficit, collapsing housing market, dollar at all time lows. That has worked so well.

Are you serious? Do you take that kool aid intravenously?

how do you type and hand wring at the same time?? Man, that is a ton of drama for one comment.

Did I mention the past 7 years, or ar you so BDS riddled that you can't see past your hatred for our president? NO, I said we shouldn't slow our fucking economy to stop a theory. Check your reading comprehension Happily. Jesus you libs need help. You cannot move forward without dwelling in the past for so fucking long that you get stuck there and just bitch about how much better things MIGHT be, if only...

good god.

But ANWR by an estimate will only produce enough oil for about two years consumption.

For the HUNDRETH FRIGGING TIME, that bullshit statistic is if ANWR was 100% of our supply. These same people predicted that Prudhoe bay would be dry by 1995.

"You cannot move forward without dwelling in the past for so fucking long that you get stuck there and just bitch about how much better things MIGHT be, if only..." Thats hilarious coming from folks who cannot let a day go by without slamming Clinton/Carter etc. You still worship at the Reagen altar.

"we shouldn't slow our fucking economy to stop a theory. " Completely agree. This administrations economic policies have slowed it enough.

And are you really serious that MMGW research has not been peer reviewed?

And Exxon is certainly doing well from the higher prices.

http://tinyurl.com/2xrvql

"Exxon broke the record it previously had set for profits by a U.S. corporation, earning $40.6 billion last year. It earned $11.7 billion in the fourth quarter, or $2.13 a share, up 14 percent from the fourth quarter of 2006. Revenue for the quarter rose 30 percent, to $116.64 billion. Exxon's profit for the year came to $4.6 million an hour."

10% profit margin. THOSE COLLUDING BASTARDS!!

"Chevron said its profit rose 29 percent, to $4.9 billion, or $2.32 a share. Chevron's quarterly revenue grew 29 percent, to $61.41 billion."

They only made 7.9% profit. OBVIOUSLY Exxon is using monopoly tactics and predatory lending schemes to defraud its competitors!!!!!1111!!11oneone!!1!eleven

Q: How much profit is too much?

BDSA: Any, if you are an oil company.

HLL/AL's comments show why we have a chance of keeping the white house and possibly winning back seats in congress. Liberals spend their time and energy bitching about the sins of hte past. We need to be focused on looking FORWARD and not constantly trotting out complaints about how the last guy did so wrong (by liberal standards). Al's comments show the liberal platform. a focused republican party should be able to overcome that - first step is focusing the party. That starts this Tuesday.

Thanks for pointing out that info Bill. The initial number of 11.7B is astounding, but with supporting info and the 7.9% profit statement, it's a lot less breathtaking. Any GOOD business person knows that a producer working on 7.9 net profits isn't making a ton of money. But when you have a local news station reporting "with that 11.7B dollar profit, exxon could fill the gas tanks of every car in America 4 times", there is truly an uphill battle for the reasonable folks in this country.

Where was Al when my Exxon stock was tanking in the 80's? when they had to merge with Mobil just to keep afloat after posting record losses?

Why is "profit" a dirty word?

"Spoil" a wilderness? How about "build" Or "Use" for a better life. Talk about Kool-aid.

Al if you want to go live in a wilderness, chew pine bark, knock yourself out. I want to live in my suburban house and Drive my SUV am I still able to? Right now I am until you put the gun of govmint to my head.

"HLL/AL's comments show why we have a chance of keeping the white house and possibly winning back seats in congress." Hmm, lets see. Obama comes to town and people wait 5 hours in the cold to see him. 20,000 tickets gone in a matter of hours.

Romney comes to town and gets a few hundred attendees.

And I never said profit was bad. Just that Exxon had done well. You inferred the rest.

Profit is what keeps you alive Al. Without it there's no jobs, even govmint jobs depend on it.

Not to mention that the Feds take over $2 for every $1 that Exxon/Chevron take. You want to cut gas prices? Mandate that the Federal government take only as much in taxes as the oil companies take in net profits... That will cut about $0.40 off the price of a gallon.

And what's wrong with drilling in ANWR? 0.1% of the land in that forsaken wilderness to get enough oil to cut our Middle East imports to a fraction for years to come? Sounds good to me... The poor freakin' caribou will do just fine, thank you very much. That could knock another $0.40 off...

And I haven't bashed Clinton or Carter for ages. Hell, I have bashed W for his RINO ideas since I last took a whack at the dem presidents...

Al

It was liberals who took the country to war, marginalized citizen rights, and trashed the economy.

Again there you go with the claim of your rights being taken away or degraded will you please for once provide the proof of your claim or shut the fu&k up about your perceived violation. Not a single right has been taken away from you and nothing has been done to you to even abrogate your rights.

Unless you can give me the case number of the court docket that has proven any of your rights our other Americans in this country have been taken away your BDS is showing again and it is getting really stupid. Specially from you the supposed ex cop that decides what laws are good for the country and what laws he will not follow.

And remember Al the laws of this land require proof not just you feel he did it.

As for the liberals that took us to war remember it was congress that voted to allow the use of force. That means they agreed to it not this well I was against the war but! Boy they sure can duck and cover can’t they Al

Last point yes the economy is in trouble but it is the fault of both parties not just one

Oh and Al why should we be surprised that a state that is very democratic leaning would have a lot of people for Obama show up to a FREE SHOW where Romney was using this meeting as a fund raiser.

"No, lets drive less and come up with some viable energy alternatives to ethanol."

Al there is a viable alternative to ethanol. It's cheaper, doesn't starve the poor and we don't have to plow millions of acres for a few days supply.

It's called oil.
