So, this is like really really old and has long been since resolved.
The Crescent is now a circle and there will be 40 large Wind Chimes. The number 44 was never in the plans.
But thanks for stirring up more hate. Sheesh!

For a purported "blogger" that has to be the most poorly constructed sentence I have ever read (outside an Il Duce' post).
Been out in the garage, Flash?

Its been 7 years for gods sake. Its a monument in the middle of nowhere. And you guys are arguing about a symbol.

Bubba...would you be ok with a holocaust monument in the middle of nowhere Germany that was in the shape of a swastika?
It's the same damn thing here. Radical Mooselimbs hijacked a plane, killed all of the passengers, and you think it's ok that the monument looks like a sacred Mooselimb symbol?
A better question would be...Bubba, it's been 7-years now...why aren't you arguing against the symbol?

Its been 7 years for gods sake
ONly 7 years huh? For Tom Burnett Sr., I'll bet it feels just like yesterday. for he and his family, I bet they relive the moments prior to Tom Jr's death every day. I'll bet when major family holidays come around, or even his birthday or mothers/fathers day, everyone remembers that day. Because when a tragedy like this strikes, you carry it with you EVERYDAY for the rest of your life. Either you don't know, Bubba, or you just don't care. But for Tom Sr....well, everytime he goes to a funeral for a friend or a colleague or a loved one, he's brought back to that day...the day he lost his son. He's reminded of his son's funeral. the grief he may be feeling for the loss of that friend/colleague/etc is compounded by the feelings of loss of his son. To Tom Sr., it's not "7 years later for gods sake". It's been teh longest 7 years of his life.
Its a monument in the middle of nowhere. And you guys are arguing about a symbol.
Middle of nowhere? Not to those that lost loved ones "nowhere". That is the final resting place of their loved ones. For Tom Burnett Sr., that is where Tom Jr. last existed. It's a pretty important place to him and to many others in this country. When folks lose loved ones in tragedies like this, those places in the middle of nowhere become symbolic to them.
Just a symbol? Imagine your kid dead at the hands of a terrorist...how would you want to remember him? Would you want the symbol that represents the very terrorists that killed him to be the constant reminder of your son's place of death? Or would you, as the father of the deceased, FIGHT LIKE HELL to make sure that there is no reference to the muslim extremists that took him from you?
next time, Bubba, you might try thinking JUST a little more before posting something like that. There are folks out there that DO care about what happened "7 years ago for gods sake" that still mourn over their losses. Symbols may mean nothing to you, but there is something far greater at play here and someone as small minded and uncaring as you just can't understand it.

The swastika was a symbol used by various native peoples long before the Nazis did. They are both symbols, nothing else. The bigger tragedy is that we have not seriously been looking for the people who masterminded it.

I flew 125,000 miles in 2001. I was on a flight September 10th and Sept. 21st. I was in California on 9-11-2001 and the LME called me and told me to turn on the TV around 7:30 Pacific time. I will never forget those images or the information that trickled out afterward.
I didn't lose anyone, a guy I worked with lost his brother in law. He worked for that firm that was basically wiped out.
I will always remember that Palestians danced in the streets when they found out. I'll never forget that many people were pretty happy about what happened to the USA. Most of the people celebrating outside the USA pray to Allah. (Those that were happy in the USA mainly worship big government and Karl Marx)
I guess we should close the Pearl Harbor Memorial, that was over 60 years ago. The Vietnam Memorial shold be torn down too as those heroes who answered the call were killed around 40 years ago. If 7 years is too long to remember 9-11, our country is screwed.

Bubba, spare us your bullshit, politically motivated chest thumping. You have on interest in WHY this is such a big deal to those that lost peolpe on 9-11. your only interest here is to play your cutesy little fever swamp games.

Are you shitting me? Tell the SF folks running around the hills of Afghanistan that they haven't been seriously looking for the guys who masterminded the attacks. Tell guys like Marcus Lutrell that and make sure someone is getting a vid.

I've no doubt Bubba could hop on his bicycle and peddle around the Hindu Kush for a week and turn up OBL and his buddies. It couldn't be that hard. You just have to really, really want to.

So is that saying that a holocaust monument shaped like a swastika would be cool?

Flash-
If you had read the letter from Mr. Burnett you would note that he said they had made changes but the big issues remain. The damn thing is still a crescent with the actual crash site as the star.
The designer put lipstick on a pig; it's still a pig.
