Seriously, it's about time. Take away the incentives for them to come here illegally and they will leave. They aren't here for a better life and the American dream. They are here to make money and send it back to Mexico. Fuck that!

These guys look like more than the average don't ask don't tell operation if they were actually obtaining false records and handing them out to illegals. They are guilty of more than just illegal hiring. They are pretty much in the same position as the coyote who brings them over and gives them false papers.

The case I think is more interesting is the D'Amicos one where they fired the employees after getting the bad SS # kickback letters. Employers are in a double bind on that--they are informed that the #s are incorrect but cannot fire people on that basis. The illegal immigrant law brigade is challenging the firings and I haven't heard how that's going.

I agree that they found out that these guys were helping the illegals, but I think tons of employers are doing that.

I hope the D'Amico's case is thrown out of court. I'd use this case as an example. D'Amicos gave the people months to prove that they were legal. If you can't prove you are legal, you should be fired.

To respond to pig/dog's argument about labor economics--this case is in Nevada. There must be a huge incentive for businesses to hire illegals there since without illegals there is probably a labor shortage at the low end and with them, you would think they would have an endless supply of cheap labor. If this company went the extra step of providing docs for workers, you know that everybody else is at least hiring them no questions asked. That sounds to me like even with the illegals there is a competative labor market (on the labor side) operating here. Yeah, the answer is to get rid of the illegals and raise wages. Until the Feds level the playing field by doing sweeps and filing charges, it's hard for individual firms to make the sacrifice and do the right thing. They know at the end of the day, most people who want the illegals out also want cheap hamburgers and look the other way when it's served by an illegal alien. Plenty of blame to go around here.

Absolutely there is blame enough to go around. Blame our welfare systems for taking the incentive away for people to work. Blame employers, politicians, the Mexican gov't.
Secure the borders, send the illegals back and then let's figure out if we need a guest worker program or just need to get our own people off their asses and off the public teat.

Supporting the exploitation of illegal workers is support for slavery. You are also supporting people that get around all of the labor laws liberals love so much. There are no labor laws when you have illegal slaves working for you. No worker's comp, paid vacations, overtime, nothing! Some contractors don't even pay their illegals when their done, they just stiff them.
