trader,

You know, I am still trying to make sense of the huge disconnect between Mitt Romney's polling in Iowa, NH, Michigan and Nevada and his polling nationally.

In those 4 states he is averaging around 30%, but nationally, he is at 7%!

Has anything like that ever happened before - where a candidate is miles ahead in the first 4 primary states and non-existent everywhere else?

I'm not saying it isn't true, I'm just saying it is beyond weird.

It's definately odd. Romney is employing what is often referred to as the "Carter" or "Conventional" model whereby one wins the first 3 or 4 caucuses and primaries and then carries that momentum into super Tuesday.

That model has worked well but the person utilizing it has always been a close second or third national not 20 points back.

As I've said before either Romney's national numbers are going to rise or his state numbers are going to fall. I happen to believe it will be the latter but it's only a guess.

Well, if most people are as politically ignorant as my sister and her husband for instance, Romney is tracking badly nationally because most Americans know him as just "that morman guy".

I bet if you took a poll of 600 Americans and asked "Who is General Patreus?", 65% would say "who"?

Romney is doing so well in those few states because people just know who he is.

I always thought that Al Greenspan was a closet screamin' lib and now it's confirmed.

in his new book, he says:

"Bush's tax cuts wiped out the surplus (utterly false and easily proven so)."

"We went to war with Iraq for oil (insane in that we have received no benefit at all from Iraq's oil compared to the treasure we have spent)."

"Bill Clinton was an economic genius and soul mate (with no mention of the fact that the reciession began during Clinton'ss last year in office and could be largely attributed to Greenspan's raising interest rates like he was out of his mind)."

Anyway, he has his head shoved so far up Clinton's butt in this book it is embarrassing. No wonder he keeps coming oput with these comments about how we are headed for the worst depression in recorded history.

He claims he is a "libertarian republican". My ass.
