Like I said before, Thompson is a great guy, just not qualified at any measureable level to be President.

It's as if I was doing a search for a new IT Project Manager for one of my clients.

My client would say:

1. How many full implementations has he done of this software package?

"Umm, none..."

2. How many teams has he overseen implementing this package?

"Umm, none..."

3. What major software package has he helped to author himself?

"Umm, none..."

4. Well why the hell should I hire him? He sounds totally unqualified??!!!

"Well, because he really believes in the software and always has. The other guy you are considering has done many full implementations, but he used to not believe as much in the software as he does now - so you should hire my guy instead..."

See how silly that sounds?

If Executive experience cured all evils I'd be voting for him too.

Redrider,

Executive experience may not cure all evils, but a total lack of experience?

Face it, Thompson has never been extraordinary at anything he has ever done.

Why do we think he would be an extraordinary President?

On the othe hand, Romney has been extraordinary at everything he has ever touched, whether it be his 40 year marriage, his 5 fine sons, his MBA/JD from Harvard where he graduated Top 5% of his class, his saving of Bain Consulting and making it one of the top firms in the world, his handling of the olympics, his elimination of a $3 billion deficit as a Republican Governor of blue state and the way he has run his campaign so far...

It still seems liek such a starnge disconnect to me that Romney is running at or near 30% in Iowa, NH, Michigan and Nevada, and yet he is only 10% nationally.

Has something like that ever happened before? Where a guy looks to sweep the first 4 contests yet is at only 10% nationally.

It is odd.

One set of them will change and in the fullness of time we'll know which.

trader,

All else aside, here's the thing that concerns me most about Fred.

His total lack of energy.

Everytime I have heard him speak, he just sounds like he would like to lay down for a nap.

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just saying he doesn't exude much energy in his voice or posture.

Compared to him, John McCain looks positively robust.
