Gravatar Trader,

In your opinion, what real world experience does Fred Thompson have to be President?

Has he ever governed a state, city or small town?
Has he ever overseen a multi-billion dollar budget?
Has he ever managed more than 10 people at a time?
Has he ever been CEO of a major corporation?
Has he ever drafted any major legislation?
Has he ever had to veto legislation?
Has he ever had to be the "buck stops here guy" at any time in his life?

Is he any more qualified than Obama?

Yes, Fred Thompson is a nice guy and says nice things, but frankly the man is totally unqualified for 90% of the activities he will do on a daily basis as President.

As a successful headhunter in the corporate world with a reputation to protect, I would ever send Fred Thompson's resume in on a Job Order to find a CEO of a Fortune 1000 Company.

Why would I vote for him to be President?

Gravatar ever send = never send

Gravatar Maybe because his core beliefs most closely mirror your own. I know they do mine.

He has also been consistent in those beliefs as opposed to someone else we all know.

Gravatar Actually ... keep your eyes on www.imwithfred.com late next week. Should be interesting.

Gravatar as in 9/6, that is

Gravatar Yes he's in for sure now.

Gravatar You say that Fred's core beliefs more closely match your own?

Yet between Fred and Mitt, whose life more closely matches your core beliefs?

Face it, Mitt's life is a BLUEPRINT of the CONSERVATIVE IDEAL. One wife, great family, well-educated and self-made.

People can "say" anything, but what does their LIFE tell you about their true beliefs?

Who has walked the walk?

All that being said, Fred is just not qualified for the job. As a matter of fact, I do not believe anyone who has never actually governed something big is qualified for the job.

Oh, BTW, Fred did refuse to rule out raising taxes. Is that a core belief of yours?

Gravatar Allow me to answer for mgb.

If I could be sure that Mitt's beliefs NOW are what are truly his CORE beliefs I might be a good deal more open to his candidacy.

He was strongly in favor of abortion just a few short years ago he is now strongly pro-life.

He was strongly in favor of complete equality for gays including marriage, now he is admamantly opposed to it.

He was a supporter of strong gun laws he now is a strong supporter of the second ammendment and on and on and on.

You are right, NOW Mitt does mirror a large number of my core beliefs. What worries me is if he will 2 years from now.

Gravatar trader,

"He was strongly in favor of complete equality for gays including marriage, now he is admamantly opposed to it."

No, I don't think that was correct. He has NEVER been in favor of gay marriage, only for gay rights.

Never-the-less, whose LIFE is more representative of the conservative ideal?

Clearly the answer is Mitt.
