Gravatar Andrew,
I am not sure I understand your article in that I do not know where you directing a small business to enter the information for our site in order to have more complete information about our site. Could you comment on this and make is more clear for me. I have a site which is www.kishelscents.com and would like to improve its standings.

thanks jeff

Gravatar Nice article - linked to it. From what I can tell, the hotel itself did not go into the Google local business center. If they did, there would be a "Provided by business owner" blurb. I did a more generic G local search for San Jose CA web design and 3 of the top 4 (currently) have that. Things like hours, payments accepted and descriptions are provided. It looks like major players like Superpages and Citysearch have programs with Google to automatically populate data, but like you implied, it can certainly be better if they did it for each unique location.

Don't know if this helps Jeff, but the local business center he was referring to is this...

Gravatar Thanks Paul, for the link. I should have linked to it.

I am sure, Jeff, that you will gain a significant advantage if you participate in such programs. There are so many small businesses who will not know what to do that the advantage should last at least a couple of years.

Gravatar Jeff, naturally one option for you would be to take advantage of what Andrew noticed - if your information is placed in Superpages, it will get you a good bit of exposure in the local search space. The information Andrew was mentioning was pulled from one of the Superpages Business Profiles, which are free for businesses to participate in. For more info, go to:
