Women absolutely like to be taken care of, I'm so glad that I don't have to make all the decision and have responsibility (another big) for all of the big decisions in the house. More later, very distracted.

Sounds good so far...
What's interesting is that many 'modern' chicks have been convinced that it's in their best interests to kick and scream whenever someone offers to take care of them in the way you describe -- that it somehow translates into not being 'whole/valuable/capable/whatever'. Suckers...

Gnerd... They want you to have a plan, but that doesn't mean they want no say. The plan shouldn't be presented in a, "This is what we're gonna do because I say so" manner. If it is, you just end up looking insecure, and an insecure male is utterly repugnant to women.

Yeah Nate, chicks definitely want all the leadership shown by the man, I've had problems with this when I was a teenager, cause the schooling system always taught me to share responsibility for everything equally in a relationship, but the chicks really didn't love that.
I may be seen these days as a chauvinist pig, as some ladies I'm sure would point out (oh, would they ever...) but I'm the M-A-N, and chicks REALLY DO love that. I mean, in the end, I'm down with Jesus and if you charted the wealth accumulation, I'm in the early stages of a massive bull market, so I'm not at all worried about those dime-a-dozen ditsy chicks that don't know what the hell they want.
There's always a sucker born - on the male side - every minute to the feminist indoctrinators. I'm glad I learnt of their deceptive ways, cause I'd still be wearing a YES MAAM T-shirt...

"you just end up looking insecure, and an insecure male is utterly repugnant to women."
Yep, that is a product of the YES MAAM environment. When they know you're going somewhere and you don't care if they're around, they flock like seagulls at the beach fighting for food scraps, cause those men are getting rare indeed.

Nate, that is exactly it. There is no such thing as compromise in decision making. It's either one way or the other. We like to have things discussed with us, not so much so that we can make the decisions, but so that we are involved in the process and know what is going on. By all means word it so we think we have some say, we always like that.

Ditto what SB just said. And advice for the ladies, should they need it, when the man says "I heard about this place..." or something, if you contantly diss his ideas, he will stop wanting to make the decisions, putting the ball back in your court, where, let's face it, you don't really want it to be.

Good to know, folks.
One thing that irritates me about some guys: soliciting the gal's advice or input and then talking about what he's thinking and planning to do as if she hadn't even opened her mouth. Don't ask for her thoughts on the matter if you're not going to consider the situation in light of what she says. Respect her for having intelligence! Respect her for listening to you and wanting to support you.
Props to Nate and Vox and the other guys for valuing their wives. May others see your example and do likewise!

Elena - value goes both ways. In my experience, a man is more likely to value his wife or girlfriend if she values him as well. Too many women in these modern times expect all the cake without the baking. Nate, Vox, and these other guys were smart enough to marry women who ARE women and respect the man BEING a man.

Man, that what to have for dinner thing is exactly like me and my wife. The thing is, I don't get home till between 6:00 and 6:30, so it would be really nice if she would have been cooking dinner before then. Most nights, though, I come home and have to fix dinner, and it's well, what do you want? I don't know, what do you want? So I either fix something or pile the kids into the van to go to Sonic.
In Mrs. Astro's defense, though, she's still nursing our youngest, and nursing takes the energy right out of you. Something about endorphins being in the mother's brain while nursing. When she stops nursing, she gets back to doing dinner. But I still have to make the decisions about what to eat!

What to eat for dinner / Where to go for dinner is the #1 thing we both have trouble deciding. It's the one thing Chris would prefer I decided because I am more food picky...but I hate the pressure of the decision!

I admit.. I have little or no tolerence for chicks who won't eat, or are picky eaters. You don't like spinach... that's ok... but if I list off 16 foods, and you won't eat any of them... I'm gonny throw your pretty little ass in the truck and go where ever the hell I want, because you ain't gonna like it no ways.

Pet peeve, I ask Vox, "what do you want for dinner?" He says "I don't care" Me either, cereal it is! Seriously, I only ask this question once in a great while. Oh well. On the food pickiness, as long as it didn't come out of the water I'm good.

The what to eat thing is somewhat under control at our house. We do the menu planning together and I do the cooking when we don't eat out. She is somewhat picky, but it's situatonal. If she just got home at 7:30 or 8:00, she's not going to want something heavy. The only real complaint is that she and the kids don't like chipotles in the chili. I have developed slowly into a pretty good cook. I've developed a (good)reputation at Wed. night potlucks at our church because I don't bring the same old thing everyone else does. Grilled mushroom soup, Cajun prosciutto and mushroom pasta, yum.

I don' think I am all that picky...but I just don't want Chinese food every other day! Does that make me a bad person? (My one stipulation is the restaurant must have real iced tea...I don't do instant Nestea crap.)
I think our problem is that we eat out too much...it's just that Knoxville has a lot of good restaurants, and especially in summer the motivation to cook a big meal in the hot weather is very low.

Papapete, how does one grill soup? My biggest problem is that I don't menu plan, I fly by the seat of my pants. I go shopping almost daily for what I want to make for dinner that night. Our only constant is sunday night.

here's one solution...move to a third world country, hire a maid for $8/day that will clean, do laundry, and cook for you. that's what i'm doing and am looking forward to it!

Joy...just be careful down there in Columbia. I wouldn't go there myself, I believe it's too dangerous. Too many drug cartels and commie/socialist rebels would would like to shoot Americans.

i'll be careful. the guerillas target american businessmen and tourists. i won't be in either parts of the town where these tend to be. i'll be there residing and will blend in more with the natives. i'll also be living in a gated apartment complex. i know to be careful. and i'm aware of the risks. it's worth it to fulfill a dream i've had for 8 years to live in Colombia for a while.

Daisycat and I spent a week in Iqitos Peru working with a missionary there and she saw how inexpensive domestic help was. I practically had to pry her fingers from the door of the plane to get her home. Don't remind her. :P
