"Which came first... the Bourbon or the Coke?"
Good question. Also, was it DNA or proteins first? The software or the hardware first? They had to come about together, it's a paradox! Only God knows... the truths can only be mildly discerned...
For me, I'm drinking my tinnies as usual. Going well. Don't mind me if I come back and post some more deep insights of some form or another...

"the Bourbon or the Coke?"
Okay I'm gonna say the Bourbon. Coke is nothing, it was not gonna promote evolutionary change like Bourbon, it was just going to be pipped by Coke when it came to sponsoring the Olympics, that's all.

I've decided, I'll give the straight answer on this.

I mentioned RUM the other day at JAC's. What are your favorites?
I like the dark sweet kinds with a little spice that I used to drink in the more southern climes. I wish I could remember the names of them. I think they were local rums that someone cooked up behind the plantation.
The other RUM that I have been lusting for is a .338 RUM, as in Remington Ultra Mag. I can't decide on which rifle I want it in. Suggestions are welcome. I'm planning on making this my ultra long range elk, (and one day when I draw, moose) gun. I'll top it with a good scope and use it out to 1000 yards.
Fire away with suggestions, keeping in mind that the gun should cost me less than $2,000 before I get the scope.

That sounds like a perfectly lovely summer evening.
At the Day household we have all be brought low by some bug or another (and as I look at numberone I think he might be getting chickenpox - yeah!)
so there is no drinking here although we do all look like the morning after a hard night of drinking!

The Bourbon came first. RC's just a knock-off of Coke.
But I'll take an RC over bad Bourbon, any day.
Good Bourbon should never be mixed with cola. That's sacrilege.

Res,
I know a guy who hase the .338 Ultra - He's scared of it. You probably won't have a problem, but keep the ecoil in mind.
You might consider the Weatherby .30-.378 with Barnes bullets. I know it's rimmed and all, but just lookin' at one of those cartridges gives me a woody!
ARRGH!

I've shot the 30-378. I know several guys who own them and they've said to stay away from it, for different reasons.
Recoil is always a consideration, at least for me. I'm not one of these guys who thinks he can shoot anything all day long.
I'm wanting a 26in barrel and am expecting it to weigh in over 11 lbs without the scope. I’m hoping that a longer barrel (who ever thought up the 20 in mag barrel, idiots) combined with a hefty stock and longer burning hand loads will keep the gun manageable. On paper a 225 grain bullet seems like the best option for long range hunting.
Savage says they will chamber it for me, so does Rem. Any thoughts on who I should go with? Also what about having a real long gun with a 28 in barrel?
I’d appreciate thoughts from the long range crowd.
Yes I know I may have to buy a receiver and action and piece this thing together.

Nate, I don't know about you, but I thought Constantine was awful, and I'm not just talking about the acting. The notion that we are just meat puppets in a spiritual game between the Lord and Satan is abhorrent to me. And Gabriel would never 'turn' as he did in the film.
All that RC mythology didn't help.
The movie was a mess. It was crap.

So did you watch Constantine Nate? If so what did you think of it?
I haven't watched it, don't know if I will or not.

"Yes I know I may have to buy a receiver and action and piece this thing together."
Interestingly enough, there is an article in this month's "American Rifleman" about custom-building a rifle. It looks like it's not impossibly difficult and reasonably priced for a custom build. Plus you have the advantage of having the stuff to do it over and over. It's at least worth looking at.

One of the more popular national brands is Captain Morgan. No doubt you've seen their ads on TV.

I hope your household is well soon Spacebunny.
I am having a few cold beers, more than my usual limit of two.
I have surgery on Monday and before they do the catheter ablation I am going to enjoy feeling all dizzy and warm.

Dys, God Bless your surgeons this morning.
Me and mine are okay, just waiting for the varicella to hit Beauty and TeenyTiny - then the real fun starts!

Never saw any Captian Morgan in Honduras, Belize, or Rotan. Lots of local stuff though. I here Brazil makes good rum too.

Res... Go with Savage. You don't no damned Off-brand gun.
Get them to put the on/off muzzlebreak on it... reduces recoil quite abit. plus you can turn it off in the field so you don't go deaf when you light it off that one time.
Make sure you get the controlled round feeding... and the accu-trigger.
That brother would be one sweet sweet firearm.

Good luck Spacebunny with your little ones having varicella. I hope they feel better soon!
My ablation went well, no complications. They found the problem and they were able to correct it. No more 200 heart beats per minute for me, hooray! They gave me narotics that were stronger than morphine and I'm still looped the next day, lol. Good thing you can't buy that stuff at the local liquor store.
