This is a double bind. Let things continue as they are and we may actually get a caliphate at some point in the future. And if America gets the spine to definatively deal with the muslims, it means that the fedgov will reap the reward of increased government power or at least the lowering of public resistance to more heavy-handed methods. The situation looks designed.
Those decision makers that brought about this crap storm think one of two things. Either they want America ruled by sharia law or they see the muslims as useful tools in the job of increasing state power. I see the second as the most likely. Now here's the kicker, if they see the muslims as tools then they also must see them as ultimately controllable. How do they plan on controlling them?

I think you answered your own question.
And if America gets the spine to definatively deal with the muslims, it means that the fedgov will reap the reward of increased government power or at least the lowering of public resistance to more heavy-handed methods.
If by "definatively deal with" you mean kill most of them, then the gov't can use it's newly (or not so newly) acquired heavy-handed methods to deal with the ones that are left, the same way it will deal with the rest of us.

Most of the questions I put in these comments are either rhetorical or are meant to make the reader think for themselves about the answer.
If the state at some point definately deals with the muslims then they will cease to be a tool.
If the state wants to use the muslims as a tool then they plan on having them around for a long time.
A central state needs something to point to as the object of fear so as to justify it's existance and it's expansion of power. If they ever use up the target of fear then they have to get or manufacture another one.
As for the control of the muslims, I am not talking about annihilation as a means of control. Using them as agents of chaos and violence yes. Killing them all, no. Killing them all would mean losing them as a scapegoat.
When I asked about control I meant exactly that, control. You cannot control with a purpose something that is dead.
If the fedgov wants muslims present in large numbers in this country and it certainly seems like that is the case. Then it follows that they do not fear them as a legitimate threat to continued fedgov control of this country. If they don't fear muslims in this country then they must have a plan for controlling muslims in this country. Something that is not feared is something that is controllable.
I am only wondering about the mechanisms of control. I wonder because this whole thing smacks of collusion.

What I meant was by the time it comes to "ultimately deal with" the muslim problem their usefulness as a tool will have been exhausted. In other words by that time we will have given up mostly all of our freedoms and subjected ourselves to a totalitarian government.
As far as controlling them in the mean time, I don't know, why do we need so many Muslims here in the country anyway? I think all it would take is for the government to just look the other way and allow a couple more terrorist attacks and the American people would just throw their hands up and shout "Protect us!" I mean we already willingly go along with whatever gov't says anyway. Can't take water on a plane. OK. Stand in line while we search all your belongings. OK. Let us listen to all your conversations and record what sites you visit. OK Take toy guns away from little kids before boarding the plane, OK. Take guns away from law-abiding citizens in New Orleans leaving them defenseless against looters, OK. Some of those things we went along with in response to a RUMORED terrorist attack. What we do if a major city got nuked?

"The situation looks designed."
"this whole thing smacks of collusion"
"NOW THE SERPENT WAS THE MOST SUBTLE OF ALL THE CREATURES IN THE GARDEN..."
Creating chaos for control, and creating an enemy is ingenious...I tell my (new) wife all the time "The dialectic is brilliant!"...I'll have to give that to them...I would just think we know where it comes from.
Nate, you lost me on the South and "escalation" thing...I have to keep coming back to the Resources thing...

bw,
General Lee was once within 15 miles of DC with no Union Army to protect it. He sent message after message to Jeff Davis begging him to allow the attack.
Lee was planning on surrounding DC and threatening to shell it to rubble if the yanks didn't call off the war.
Davis was unwilling to escalate the fight to that level. he didn't have the stomach to shell DC.
Today, there are all sorts of things we could do to end this war we face.. but we don't have the stomach for any of them.

You said it Nate. If fired on from a Mosque, level it. End of story. If fired upon, respond 10 fold. They respect strength over there, more than words. We haven't shone the will to use the strength we posess. They see us as weak. Our leaders are cowards, willing to involve us, not willing to win. Contrary to what they say.

OT: Nate, I've been wondering for a long time why you thought fibromyalgia was baloney, and now I found the post about it in your archives. I have some specific questions about it. Would you please email me at kiwigeek at mailshack dot com? I would really appreciate your help and any references. Thanks.

Kiwi... it speaks volumns that the most effective drugs for treating Fibromyalgia are not pain drugs at all... but Anti-depresants.

Re: Fibromyalgia
My mother-in-law has been diagnosed with it...she's completely insane. She's a hypochondriac who isn't happy unless everyone feels sorry for her. She's such a fake too, at home, when no one outside the immediate family is there, except for me, she walks around the house with no assistance at all and gets online for hours gambling and shopping. But when she goes out in public she needs a wheelchair, and can't even cut her food at a restaraunt without assistance.
She's on more medications that can fit in my hand, half are painkillers, the other half anti-depressants.
I can't stand being around her, it's so obvious she isn't really in pain, and she just acts like she is for attention. And watch out if you are actually sick, cause if you have a cold she has the flu, if you broke your leg she fell the other day and thinks she broke her hip, if you are dying from AIDS she has the plague; you can never be sicker than her.
I'm sorry if I offend anyone who is really in pain from this affliction, the above is just my experience with the disease. It may be she thinks she has fibromyalgia because she is a hypochondriac, and fibro is a disease that you can't really prove whether someone has or not.

Also, I didn't mean everyone who has been diagnosed fibromyalgia is crazy either, or a hypochondriac. It just seems like maybe some doctors needed to invent an illness that has no visible symptoms so they have something to diagnose the more "illness prone" patients, rather than treat the underlying problems of why they seek attention from doctors.
Kind of like doctors and parents stuffing kids full of drugs for ADD nowadays. Some kids DO have ADD, but I think MOST of them are just behavior problems. But it's easier to drug, than discipline. Sells more medication too. I mean, I never knew people had so many problems until all these drug commericals started showing up on TV.

Do you think they are all just discipline problems?
Just wondering what your view is.
Part of the problem is also public, or even private group schooling. I know when I was in grade school I was diagnosed with ADD, because I got near perfect scores on the annual CA Achievment Tests we took in school, but would get low grades. They said I couldn't focus long enough to complete the homework. Which was true, but it was because I thought it was stupid to have to do 50 math problems when I had the concept down after 10. If I was homeschooled I could have moved on to something else instead.

They aren't discipline problems. they're just kids. We've changed our perception of perfectly acceptable normal behavior. We've decided what is normal is actually bad, and labeled it a disease.

Amen and Amen...it's called anger turned inward ("depression")

I don't know about 70% bw. My wife can stop your heart and restart it. She can keep you alive and pain free while surgeons expose your brain and insert various eletrodes in it... WHILE YOU ARE AWAKE.
That's not a lie. That's badass.

That's all just mechanics though, ain't it?
I think the chemistry part (including bacterial infections, cancer, brain chemistry, etc. etc.) is where the docs don't have much of a clue.

What Dr. Who does would certainly qualify for the 30%. (If you MUST have the surgery)
I am mostly referring to meds when I use 70%.

I need to blog on that. I recognize the need. But for some reason I just can't. I can't think of anything to say about it.
I mean... It doesn't suprise me. I'm... numb? I just don't care. The american people want to be slaves to the mommy state. Who am I to stop them?
I just want to leave.

"Eat, Drink, and Be Merry, for this is the Gift of the Lord"
Bad choice of words Nate. Remember which scripture comes next:
19And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." '
20"But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Luke 12:19-20
