Gravatar I guess there's a Palm handheld version?

Gravatar If you like that, then you might like this:

Enjoy

Gravatar Gives a whole new meaning to shooting one's mouth off...

Gravatar Bill,
The Palm version is far more ergonomic and functional and it makes you a better person because it uses Linux.

Gravatar Jeez, don't put your finger on the trigger while you're talking on it!

Gravatar Dang cool. My wife still has the old model... but at least it holds 19 rounds and has tritium sights.

Can't check her e-mail on it but she can check a home invader.

Rattatat.

Gravatar "Sorry to one up you JAC"

No you're not.

How ironic is it that it was a female civilian police sgt that took out the jihadist at Ft. Hood yesterday? Saw a comment yesterday from someone saying that it was interesting in this PC culture that non-liberal women are clanking louder than the men are.

Gravatar Man, I need an ATF, like BAD!

Gravatar How ironic is it that it was a female civilian police sgt that took out the jihadist at Ft. Hood yesterday?

Ironic? Well, thanks to base rules, she was the first one on the scene with a weapon (well... technically... the second...). And she got herself shot up pretty good as well, considering she got the drop on the guy - but she did sling some serious lead, and she's ex-army herself.

Gravatar I meant ironic in terms of a useless worthless(in their own mind)female taking out a superior (in their own mind)mooslim. The major probably won't live down the humiliation of it all. I had a feeling that the sgt. was former military. She seemed too well trained to be just the usual LEO.

Stupid gun and ammo control rules on bases are going to continue killing our soldiers.

Gravatar Oh, and I'll take this opportunity to point out to JAC, Nate, et al that the chick followed the latest training recommendations and RAN TOWARD THE SHOOTING BEFORE BACKUP GOT THERE with her weapon out, and started blasting as soon as she reasonably ID'd the bad guy. As I recall you folks were skeptical when I said this is the way it's supposed to be done now.

Gravatar Lacking an ATF, this seems as good a post as any to ask this: I was looking for an AR-style 308 battle rifle and found a Kel-Tec RFB for $1450 (negotiable) today. Any concerns I should have before purchasing tomorrow? I've gone over everything google had to show me, which wasn't much in regards to performance, but as a left-sided shooter and based on the prices I've seen lately it appears to be a decent purchase.

Gravatar The Kel-Tec ain't an AR style rifle, it's just black. Check out Bushmaster and Armalite.

Heck that kinda money is dang near list price for an AR-10. You might also want to look at Springfield Armory's M1.

Gravatar I should have clarified "AR-style" to mean "pistol grip."

Gravatar Susan, good point on the ignominy of the POS Major's defeat.

He gets stopped by a girl and doesn't even have the decency to die in the attempt.

If I worked in that hospital, I would sneak bacon grease into everything the bastard eats.

Gravatar The Kel-Tec RFB has one problem. It isn't big but it could be depending on your point of view.

Checking to see if a round is chambered requires that you eject the magazine, retract the bolt then look up the magazine well. If it's dark then you will need a light of some kind. I guess if your hand could fit in the magazine well then you could physically check by feeling for the round.

I would assume that retracting the bolt should eject whatever round is in the chamber.

If the RFB was cheap like other Kel-Tec products then it would be a good buy but as it is you can get a better weapon for the same money somewhere else.

Gravatar I still like the idea of the SU16 though. Should be plenty of M16 mags to scrounge if the SHTF and you live through it.

Gravatar Actually the female cop involved was just a bullet sponge, although, she did try and do her job. It was her partner who did the shooting..

As for the way it's done now, we get three guys together and go in. I'm not sure exactly what they did, it's already being made up before anyone knows the truth, but older cops don't like the "new way" very much. They were taught to clear every room and never leave anything behind you uncleared. We all revert to training, particularly original training, when the time comes.

Gravatar One other problem with the RFB.

Where you place your cheek while firing gets rather hot when shooting more than a few rounds. It is rather close to the firing chamber so it is understandable that the metal would get hot like it does.

Gravatar EN: do you have a link for the stuff about the partner doing the shooting?

That's the first I've read of it, but I'm not digging much.

Gravatar http://www.latimes.com/news/ nati...0,1269467.story

Police Sgt. Kimberly Munley and her partner, Sgt. Mark Todd, heard a radio report and raced toward the action. As the gunman was shooting at a wounded soldier, said Chuck Medley, Ft. Hood's director of emergency services, Munley rounded a corner between two buildings and spotted him. They exchanged fire.

A firearms instructor and SWAT team member who had trained for such a moment, Munley shot at the gunman with her 9-millimeter Beretta. He charged her, and they exchanged fire.

Todd, who had become separated from Munley, saw that she had been shot. Hasan was 15 yards from him, Todd told CNN, "standing there hiding behind a telephone pole waving his weapon, firing it at people." Todd said Hasan saw him, calmly pointed and shot. Todd couldn't see a weapon -- only a muzzle flash -- and fired back. Hasan, who by then had allegedly shot 100 rounds, fell.

Gravatar BTW, if you read most of what the current reporting they're not saying outright she stopped him, but they are insinuating it. She goes on Oprah, Todd goes on duty.
