A co-worker's dad did the 'suicide by cop' thing a couple of years ago. He was an old guy - sick and depressed - who wanted to die but didn't want to do it himself.
What's he do? He calls the cops, tells them he's got guns, wants to kill himself, and will shoot anybody who tries to stop him. Then he waits on the SWAT team. Soon as they arrive, he walks out the front door with an empty pistol.
BANG. Dead. They didn't try talking to him or anything.
I wonder if that's whats behind a lot of these 'standoff's.

It also bugs me that she feels she is a situation that requires the use of an ASSAULT!!!! rifle, yet she isn't even hidden behind the car.
My point is, if she was facing a skilled and motivated guy, my money would not be on her.
This is aside from the fact that she obviously is holding a gun that has no round in the chamber. [The gun was probably empty if the magazine wasn't inserted, and she definitely didn't chamber a round after putting it in backwards.]

I agree. But what is the thought here on storing guns in this fashion? Does your concern on theft overide your desire to show your goods (if only to yourself).
I currently have everything in a Wal-Mart safe which is probably a good defense against a quick bust in and grab the electronics type theft.

I was taught that "chicken winging" was bad form and caused misses due to poor form. Of course that could be why the guy was shot in the leg, the cop was aiming for the head.
There are countless reasons that "chicken-winging" is not considered good form. I find the most important is the creation of tension. A tensed up shoulder causes the rifle to move around alot.

Put into non-stick frying pan on low heat:
Sliced-up banana
dollop butter (NOT margarine you heathens!)
splash of vanilla (I use two)
raw or brown sugar
Cook til sugar is melted and it smells good.
Pour in at least one shot of decent Bourbon.
Tilt pan til flaming. Cook off alcohol (or... don't!)
Pour onto good vanilla ice cream. I tend to buy Breyers all natural or some other full-fat version.
