Gravatar Chicken pox?
This is over chicken pox vaccines?
If I were a bettin' man, I'd half-expect one of those parents to show up for the hearing just to shoot the bastards.
A verbal reprimand from the judge?
It's like that county is throwing every nanny-state trope into the mix...

So, Australia, huh?

Gravatar I have a feeling we are going to see more and more of number 2.

We have objections to certain vaccinations because they were researched through the use of unborn children.

Some vaccinations my children simply won't get, like the chicken pox. What the hell is the point in that? The more vaccinations we get, the more it will serve to cause variants of the disease that are immune to the vaccination, usually being stronger and more effective at harming the individual.

I wrote that guy a nice letter asking basically asking him if he enjoys ignoring the constitution.

Gravatar I'm guessing that the bottom line is that they could care less about the children's health. (I mean chickenpox? Come on!) They just want the $$ for butts in the seats at school.

Their high handedness is sickening...and scary.

Gravatar What am I missing? This looks like a great idea! I have absolutly ZERO problem with any of this.

What I see as the money quote:
students have not been immunized and have been barred from attending schools

Now THAT. THAT is a Win-Win.

Gravatar Yeah, I'll be moving back right away.

Gravatar Wendy has a point. The last sentence in the article is the real reason it is happening.

"It hurts us when any child is out of school because he needs to be immunized, and so we felt we needed to be creative. We need those students immunized. We need them in schools."

. . . because we won't get our share of the money for having all those butts in the seats.

Gravatar I'm sure they're scared to death that missing 2 months of indoctrination might cause these kids to learn the truth about something.
The whole country's gone psycho-commie, but there are at least still pockets of resistance in the west. Just a slight comfort to those of us who don't have the means to leave at this point.

Gravatar I like the part where he says it's a "children's rights issue." Yeah, my child's right NOT to have to be shot up with god-only-knows-what, especially since there is research showing how detrimental vaccinations are to children.

Chicken pox? Please. Maybe they could get fired up about the MMR but chicken pox? Wonder how much the school system's getting from Big Pharma.

Gravatar Preach Mary Beth!

Gravatar The money quote is 'we have to have these children in school no matter what'

It's sad what these administrators will do to keep the head count high just so they will have a job.

Gravatar here's the cycle:
force all kids to school -> overcrowding ->build more schools! ->out of money b/c spent it all on schools ->raise property taxes (for the children of course) ->repeat/rinse/wash

Gravatar I recently read an article which reported that parents claiming an exemption from immunizations for religious reasons is growing. Maryland offers the religious exemption, too -- why don't those threatened people use it?

Gravatar Of course, if they weren't all crammed together in a classroom for 8 hours a day the likely hood of them spreading these diseases would be significantly lowered.....

Gravatar This is just one more implementation of the nanny state. Throw the parents in jail-- who takes care of the kids? I suppose it's in the child's best interest to remove them from the home of such negligent and dangerous parents. And immunizations in the courthouse? There's desperation here, but not for the children. Shockingly enough it would appear these kids have been attending for a number of years (some of these are missing boosters) and no epidemic outbreaks?
And is anyone realizing that this outrage is all about 1.75% of the student population?
I'm not sure if it's the media or the even more idiotic district officials who characterize having 98.25% of the population successfully immunized and prepared for brainwashing a "struggle".

Gravatar What the hell?

Chicken pox and Hep B?

A relatively common childhood illness and a sexually transmitted disease?

Gravatar "2 is more fun... but its not the one I would recommend for an INDIVIDUAL to take."

However, a group/militia....... hmmmm...
That may get the Pan-Galactic stamp of approval?

Gravatar What's next? mandatory flu vaccinations?

Gravatar I wish I knew more about vaccinations. My 17 month old has had some shots, but some we are not giving. We have tried to space them out, but I still worry.

What have other parents done here concerning vaccinations for their children and why?

As a new parent, I am a complete n00b when it comes to everything related to fatherhood. I want what is best for my daughter, right now I am on the fence about vaccinations.

Some of the shots that children received in the past were loaded with mercury, my daughter hasn't received any of those at least.

I also worry about Autism. She is a smart, coherent child that is always on the go, but I have heard plenty of horror stories where a child received a vaccination and then became autistic.

The wife and I were up a few hours last night discussing this as she is due for a booster this Friday.

Gravatar Does anyone have any links about the negative effects of vaccinating? I am a new father (son due Dec 13) and seriously wanting to know my rights before he is born.

Gravatar Hi Jason,

This one is rather thorough, but I feel it to be informative:

Gravatar Jason you can start at the National Vaccine Information Center www.909shot.com

An important thing to remember when researching this is that when you read various books or websites on the subject there is very little middle ground and both sides tend to be extremely alarmist. Kids can and do die from vaccines and this website has a link to VAERS (the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System).

Now, not all vaccines are bad and not all vaccines are necessary. In my opinion the best thing you can do is to read up on both sides of the topic and make an informed decision about your child. It's not just the mercury in vaccines that is problematic, but the overloading of such a developing system. As they get older you can always have them vaccinated. We didn't do any infant vaccinations but now that they are older they have had their tetnus and polio vaccines.

Gravatar Hi SB,

Thanks for your reply, you kind of answered my previous question.

My wife is a huge fan of Dr. Sears, and he kind of gives a good answer that isn't totally biased to either side:

http://www.askdrsears.com/thevac...thevaccinebook/

Unfortunately, we have to place my daughter in daycare for 2 days a week for the time. These daycares require vaccinations but we definitely can plea religious objection to some of these.

Gravatar I have to say that I'm not a fan of Dr. Sears and disagree with many of his claims regarding vaccines but that is what I said it is important to read up on both sides of the topic and make an informed decision. I do like that he is sympathetic to parents who decide against the mainstream which is refreshing.

Gravatar On autism, I am starting to think that maybe too many children are getting diagnosed as autistic. These same children a generation ago would have been deemed a bit shy or hyper depending on their personality.

Similarly, I know plenty of people that were diagnosed as ADD or ADHD as children. This placed a stigma on them that some have been unable to shake. Some that can shake it have become highly successful individuals.

Gravatar Autism has some pretty tell-tale give aways. hugging ones self and rocking back and forth for example.

Its not as easy to over-diagnose as the others you mention... which are most often first diagnosed by lazy teachers.

Gravatar mjb,

I'd suggest getting the doctor who administers the vaccine to confirm in writing that there is no thimerosal in the vaccine before I'd accept it.

I've been through this with my children's pediatrician and told them in no uncertain terms that they would not have vaccines containing thimerosal.

Gravatar Thanks Cyril,

I've made some mistakes on the way, but I'm learning. Fortunately, after almost 18 mos, my daughter has shown no signs of issues relating to her other vaccinations.

Gravatar Nate,

The POL in question in this article wrote me back with the following response:

"You’re right. The media tended to edit out our comments about the waiver process here (I suppose the story would have been less sexy with that info include), but we’ve tried to make that option known and available. No one is forced to have vaccines here to attend public school, they just need to fill out a short waiver form.

Thanks for your input.

Glenn Ivey"

Gravatar If no one is forced to have vaccines to attend school, why the paperwork?
