Funny you should mention that, my wife and I have this same ... um ... disagreement.

The way I look at it (and therefore, everyone should (naturally)) is that babysitting is performed by either parent when the other gets to do something special.

When she watches Riley so I can go to work, that is parenting. Ditto for when I watch Riley and she goes grocery shopping.

However - when my lovely, beautiful & spoiled wife gets to go on a scrapbooking/spa weekend (Friday afternoon thorugh Sunday evening, no less!) thing it is most certainly babysitting on my part!
