Gravatar Such gorgeous mittens! Great job, Veronique!

Gravatar Wow, the mittens look amazing! I like that they are fraternal. great colors! I have not jumped on the fair isle knitting bandwagon yet, I'm a littke skeered of it, but hopefully that won't last much longer. Happy New Year!

Gravatar WHA???????!!!!!!!!! THe dominant is the CONTRAST COLOR?? Whoa! The things I learn everday. . . thanks, i never knew! d'oh!

and your mittens look great! fabulous job. i love that you swithced up the colors. nice mod.

my, your hair has gotten long. are your days at Vidal Sasoon over?

Gravatar Lovely I like that the main color changes on the mittens and nice pics of you too! Happy New Year !

Gravatar I learned some important things from your post that I will defnitely use in my knitting. Although I have read about knitting with colors in other articles, and have knitted some things with stranded colorwork, you have made it so clear and concise. Thanx!

Gravatar yep, the dominant color is the color of the pattern not the background (though the background color is dominant by way of usage.) i can see how that would be confusing! regardless, those mittens turned out so cute i love how you flipped the colors. great way to keep interested in them.

Gravatar They are SO lovely!! And soft!! I can't wait to finish mine. I hope mine turn out as nicely as yours!

Gravatar Your mittens are gorgeous, beautiful knitting! The yarn dominance issue totally got me confused on my mitt-the way you describe it really clarifies it.

Gravatar Congrats on the finished mittens- they look lovely. Also thanks for the links on yarn dominance, they were very helpful in reclarifying that issue. Hope you have a very happy new year!

Gravatar Those mittens are gorgeous (as are you in all these pictures!) Happy New Year, Veronique!

Gravatar thanks for the lesson on dominate yarns. i am going to definitely refer back in the not too distant future.

happy new year - i hope 2007 is wonderful to you.

Gravatar Your mitts are devine! Thanks for the links and info on dominant colour - very interesting! Happy New Year to you and your's!

Gravatar Cool - I've never really understood that before.

The mittens look great. Happy New Year!

Gravatar Love them! I had an experiment with yarn dominance on my endpaper mitts as well. To be reported soon. Happy New Year!

Gravatar Those look beautiful!!!!

Gravatar they look great! you seem to have got over the hatred of fair isle. I know what you mean about fair isle everywhere at the moment.

have some pink and brown yarns in VERY similar shades I was thinking of using for the same project! I'm not sure I have enough pink though, they may end up being the endpaper wristwarmers instead

Gravatar Simply stunning!

Gravatar the mittens look gorgeous! i'm currently finishing ez's norwegian mittens and also switched the dominant colors for the second mitten, just to keep it interesting.

Gravatar Oh. My. God. I go away for 10 days, and I come back, and you have made these GORGEOUS mittens!!! I love them! And am utterly smitten. And they're cashmere? Hang on while I swoon.....
So, does this mean that you don't hate colorwork anymore?

Gravatar Love the colors! Great job!

Gravatar love them! totally fabulous.
your discussion did make my head hurt a little. i've been holding one color in each hand, basically knitting continental with one and english with other, you know? not sure if that's right or not.

Gravatar They look fantastic!! What a great last FO of the year. Thanks for the info on yarn dominance, I have the same issue as Carrie (using both hands) and can't quite figure out which is the dominant yarn.

PS, so glad the cashmere softened with a wash, can't wait to touchy-feely.

Gravatar Wow, they are beautiful! I totally had the same experience with the color dominance - so now we know! Hooray for learning new things.

Happy New Year!!

Gravatar Beautiful! Happy New Year!

Gravatar beautiful - i like how they are opposites. i learned about dominance the hard way also....

Gravatar oooo, great color choices in those mittens! I would have expected them to look more different, being opposites, but they look awesome!

Gravatar Oh, so pretty! Love the colors (and that they are reversed, how fun). I haven't started my colorwork yet, so your insight about dominance is over my head right now. But I'm sure It'll be fabulous to know once I start my mittens!

Gravatar Those mittens are so absolutely gorgeous it makes me wish I had need of some... I particularly love the colors you chose.

Gravatar Love the mittens! I saved reading this post until a time when I could digest the info. I was doing my stranded work like you. Thanks for the detailed explanation of why what I was doing was wrong!

Gravatar Beautiful. I love the colours and the fact that they're opposites. x

Gravatar Love the mittens and thanks for the advice and links on yarn dominance. I am just starting my first stranded work - Corazen from knitty in pink and brown
