Scothguard indeed! My first though of fabric covered cabinets was how dirty/greasy they would get!
That aside - the are uber-adoreable. (Is one of the panels upside down?)

I definitely see a missing handle. This is a pretty cool project, and it is also the kind of thing you could do with a table cover. I might have to try that if I see a cheap-o table at a yardsale or flea market.

It looks fabu! I didn't even catch the little red bees on the pattern when I saw it first. So lovely.
(I think one of the panels is facing a different way...but I like that!)

I think it looks fantastic! How cute & original! It's such a great, cheap way to spruce up a kitchen. I'm sure I will be following in your crafty footsteps soon as we are moving june 1 into a house, formerly occupied by a serious hoarder. I can't wait to find crafty cheap ways to spruce up the decor (as it's stuck somewhere in 1979).

Awesome idea- prefect for my kitchen from helll that I can't afford to redo. This would be great with some cool oil cloth for us messy people who are always spilling stuff.

This might be really cool to use as a place to hang photographs, say with sewing pins. Somehow adhere a piece of cork onto the cabinet underneath the fabric so that pins have a place to stick into without damaging the wood. Love the idea!

We've been doing these for years. For quick short time coverings we just used elastic mattress pad holders with the toothed snap on the ends to hold the fabric on the backside. It was especially handy for Christmas and holiday decor changes which would only be up for a short while. If the fabric is hemmed, it can be washed or scotch-guarded. We also used plaid shelf liner in smaller squares on the fronts of the doors for a country look. We attached them with upholstery tacks and left a few protruding enough to hang little country knick-knacks from. Of course this would only be appropriate if the doors are otherwise covered afterwards or the tack holes would show.

OMG! It's the perfect solution to my problem (we rent and can't change much). You know what would be cool on a few of them? Criss crossed ribbon for a french message board...then you can use it for recipes, pictures and such. Oh, I'm so going to do this....right now.

Congratulations on a brilliant idea! Thank heavens for crafters! We just purchased an older home; my daughter sent me the link to your project. We have decided that we love it and would like to try it for an interesting look in the kitchen. The only reservations I have about the fabric is the cleanliness factor, even with scotchguard! What type of fabric would be most useful for this high traffic area? I'm totally a kitchen witch, therefore I spend most of my time in the kitchen brewing something up in my cauldron! I'm just a tad OCD when it comes to cleaning the kitchen! Any suggestions, since I don't sew and I am unfamiliar with textile properties for a project such as this? I would assume that it would have to be lightweight enough to tuck over the cupboards so that the doors close, but heavy enough to withstand cleaning! I would appreciate hearing any feedback and how this worked out for you.

I am looking to cover my daughter's bedroom door much the same as your kitchen cabinets, which look awesome! Since both sides of the door can be seen (unlike your cabinet doors which have an "inside" with tacks and an "outside") do you have any ideas for making a clean, good-looking edge? Quick, before you have your baby, do tell!
