Sorry I posted this in the wrong place first time....
I had to take a fair amount of RE at school, but I only remember bible stories (so useful) not how I, as an individual alone out in the world, am supposed to interpret god's word in real-life situations over (say) the law. I have this vague idea that I am supposed to a) defer to a vicar who b) defers to the law.
But... is there now a consensus Christain view out there that suggests that I am allowed to interpret the word of god as I choose? If so I might have to rethink being an aetheist - surely god must have put me here to do whatever it is I am about to do? This could mean the end of guilt forever.
