The Global Warming Theory is but one of the biggest crackpot theory within the establishment camps. Just keep in mind that we humen are not capable of creating a single carbon atom. All we even is burn the carbon that exist in fossil fuels into CO2 and release to atmosphere. Those fossil fuels were actually ancient plantations: They breathed the CO2 existed in the atmosphere, turn them into carbon and released the O2 into atmosphere. So we are merely releasing the CO2 that existed in the atmosphere millions of years ago back into the atmosphere.
And further keep in mind that the pre-life earth had an atmosphere with 20% CO2 and 0% O2. Clearly the green house effect of 20% CO2 never caused a problem in the origin of life, so why would a 370 ppm CO2 today cause any concern at all. It is not even clear that human activity caused the CO2 increase at all, since the bulk of the carbon cycle is by the metabolism of biotics, not by human consumption of fossil fuel.
Now, I do think our consumption of none-replenishable fossil fuel is a big concern. But the concern is no way in the CO2, but rather in the continued availability of such fossil fuels, which is very questionable in the next few decades.
We have seem that humen's consumption of all natural resources are grouing at an exponential or even explosive pace, if you look at the last couple of thousand years. Exponential growth is terrible and no system can persistently sustain even the most moderate exponential growth!!! Because it does not take long for the number to grow to any astronimical scale if it is exponential growth.
What I want to say is we must suppress our desire and need to try to live within the ways and means provided to us by the nature, and never ask for more, or else the only alternative outcome is eventual extinction of the human race altogether.
Just think about it, the nature spend billions of years to accumulate that amount of fossil fuel for us, and it takes one hundred years of automibile usage to exhaust the bulk of that resource. One hundred years is less than a blink in terms of universe history. We are living as if there is no tomorrow. That's utterly irresponsible to our future generations, especially when it's done in the name of "scientific progress."
We human race could have lasted longer if there was no modern science like nuclear physics, chemistry and biology developed. Without antibiotics we have survived hundreds of millions of years of evolution without a problem. With a stock pile of nuclear weapons that can destroy the whole world 50 times over at press of a button, how much longer can we survive?
