Gravatar Hurrah!

Warm, firm, manly handshakes from this Brit. Just reward for an excellent service.

It's just such a shame that I only found you because of Katrina. Such an award is a bit like receiving a battlefield commission after your loved officer has taken a fatal bullett, pride mixed with grim.

Still, well done all the same, Brendan! Keep up the good work!

Gravatar Congrats and you definitely deserve whatever kudos come your way.

Gravatar Solid work, Master Loy.

How you've managed to do this while working, going to school, and interviewing is indeed praiseworthy.

Gravatar Maybe they're mistaking you for a gay republican USC fan...

Gravatar Ha! I hadn't even thought of that, but it would have been a much better joke: they haven't mistaken me for you, they think I've married you! LOL!

Gravatar Congratulations, Brendan. I, like Peter, found you by virtue of Katrina and once this is over (will it ever really be over?) I plan to stay around.

Keep up the good work!

Gravatar Kick ass!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar Found you thru kottke.org a few days ago. Good info.

Gravatar How about this too, you're in 8th place in Intelliseek's Top Blog List...above Gawker, LifeHacker, Gizmodo, Slashdot, PostSecret and the Los Angeles Times:

Congrats dude!

Gravatar I had just returned from a week vacation in Nova Scotia Sunday night. Turned on the TV to check the news for the first time in a long while and couldn't believe how large Katrina was. Kept channel surfing but was getting pissed at the lousy coverage and by chance (hmm... google I think)... I located your blog which proved to be the most informative place for info. *tosses Brendan a beer* Great job!!

Gravatar Don't know anything about you, found you the other day thru Malkin I think but keep coming back for new info. You're doing a good thing.

Gravatar Brendan,
I've always wondered why you don't run ads. I think you addressed it once, but I don't remember the reason. Site clarity?

Anyway, you should consider putting up some ads with all the traffic you're getting; you can donate the proceeds to the Red Cross if you wish.

Gravatar Brendan,

you are doing a great job, THANKS.

The news coverage here in germany is only a small part probably taken from CNN with additional hours of time lag.

If you ever stop here for a visit be invited for a beer or two :)

Gravatar No harm in taking a second to pat yourself on the back. You deserve it. I am a former NO resident. My mom and sister still live (lived?) there (they evacuated). I am now living in Japan, and I check your site several times a day. Many thanks.

Gravatar You deserve every bit of it. I found you during Ivan. (I was a bit busy surviving during Charley - and somehow missed you during Frances - sorry.) But you were a regular starting with Ivan.

Gravatar Excellent work, Brendan. I also found you for your coverge of the hurricane and you now have your own tab in Firefox!

I also wanted to pass along the url for the emergency pages for Tulane University. They're posting at
http://emergency.tulane.edu/

Keep hanging in there!

Gravatar Woo hoo, large mammal! Now while Brendan obviously gets to be the heart and soul of the blog, I think us guest bloggers should get status as some type of organ atleast. For myself I'm thinking maybe the corpus collosum, cause its fun to say, or perhaps the optic nerve. I think Mike should have some sort of prominent position in the logical thinking side of the brain, your dad perhaps the funny bone, Andrew would have to be your right arm, and Dane your left, with bea maybe being your right shoulder, since we all know she controls Andrew. Becky of course is the neck, because you may be in charge but she is the one who steers your head ;-) As for Alasdair and Charles, well I could give my suggestion, but it might come across as a bit cheeky :D

Gravatar David's picked up some punnin' skilz, I see.
Nicely done.
Congrats Brendan!

Gravatar You got an attaboy from a "reader from Norway" over at About Last Night:

After the hurricane had passed, [CNN Europe] went into automatic day-after-the-hurricane mode, serving up the same brief, standard, "well, now it?s time for the big clean-up" report every half-hour for hours. During the same hours, I was reading on Brendan Loy?s weblog and other weblogs about the breach in the first levee and the rising waters in New Orleans. Literally hours went by before CNN Europe picked up on this story, and while Brendan Loy understood the significance of it immediately, CNN Europe reported on it in a perfunctory manner, apparently unable to switch gears quickly because this new development just didn?t fit their script...

Congrats!

Gravatar I've had quite enough of your gay-bashing.... what with the talk of "Trojans" and "Beating Rainbows".

I thought you were above that, Brendan.

seriously.. congrats, dude. I just hope people hang around after the Katrina stuff dies down. It'll be great when thousands of people get to hear you whine when USC goes down on October 15th.
