RockyMtMom,is there anything new on this case? Thanks for all your previous input, though it looks like its gone now. I did read all of it and just wondered if there's more to the story.

UPDATE (FROM HEARING ON 10/19/07):

http://www.idahostatesman.com/we...ory/ 188256.html

"11:30 a.m. -- Nampa woman denied reduced bond in murder case -- Idaho Statesman -- Edition Date: 10/19/07

A 61-year-old Nampa woman accused of murdering her husband 27 years ago will not get a reduced bond, a magistrate ruled Friday.
Judy Gough remains in the Ada County Jail on first-degree murder charges.

Magistrate Boyd White declined a defense request Friday to reduce Gough's bond from $500,000 to $75,000. Gough is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 26.

Public defender Amil Myshin argued for the lower bond, saying Gough has never been charged with a crime before, has lived in the Treasure Valley for 47 years, has many family and friends to support her and is not a flight risk.

Ada County Deputy Prosecutor Josh Haws filed a motion for Gough to be held without bond, saying they were concerned she might be suicidal or a threat to family members. Haws also argued that prosecutors have yet to make a decision about whether to seek the death penalty.

Several members of Gough’s family gasped or shook their heads when White denied a reduction in the bond. They left the courthouse without commenting publicly.

Gough, clad in a orange Ada County Jail uniform, appeared calm during the hearing. She did not speak.

Gough was arrested Sept. 29 by Boise police, who were tipped off to the case by Gough’s daughter, who told detectives she saw her mother kill her stepfather. Gough is accused of drugging, then shooting her then husband, Lloyd Ford, in 1980 and burying his body in the backyard of their home at 4705 W. Clark St."

Other than this update, I have not heard of any other sources commenting on this case. It is such an unusual and sad case, that I actually am surprised there has not been any further comments, that I am aware of anyway. I will post any future updates as I become aware of the same.

I am not sure what happened to all of the past posts, and sure hope Mr. Huff did not inadvertantly lose them when he recently updated the site.

There was also an interesting "comment" left at the link in my Post #3, above:

Fact Check

There are several factual errors in this posting. The victim was not the father of the daughter and the "several members of her family comment" is a patent exaggeration. Theres no need to sensationalize an already sensational story. What are you guys doing printing this type of misinformation?"

* * * * *

A comment following this one instructed the poster to re-read the article, as it did not state that the victim was the father of the daughter. Anyway, I have a very stong feeling there is way more to what has been made public thus far.

Upon a closer read of the above article by the IdahoStatesman, it was my recollection that Gough's request for a public defender had been denied (Oct. 2nd arraignment), which is confirmed by a previous link I posted, i.e. http://www.idahostatesman.com/ne...ory/ 172988.html ~ "Gough was denied her request for a public defender during her initial appearance in court Monday, so she did not have a lawyer to represent her."

I find it very odd that the court has now granted her request, and a PD has been appointed. When a defendant is entering a plea, it is quite significant that they have legal representation should they desire it. Another strange thing is that it appears by everything I have read they are not even close to indigent, wherein she would qualify for a PD. As the past poster with an inside scoop stated, Mr. Gough is a pilot. If my recollection of my research into this is correct, I believe he works for the Forest Service, or other governmental agency, which would mean they would have sufficient means to retain private counsel. Additionally, Idaho is a community property state, so any marital asset could be used to fund private counsel.

Anyway, just thought that interesting.

I just found my source regarding Tom Gough's employment, and he is actually listed as a technician for the Bureau of Land Management (no date on pdf document). I just wanted to correct my prior post.

What is his children saying after all these years. Tom his son lives in Ainsworth Nebraska and lived in the home when this happened.

Susan:

I am very confused, i.e., Tom living in the home when this happened. Did Tom, Judy's husband Tom, live there at that time as well? Were Tom's child/children living with Judy for some reason, while she was still living with Mr. Ford? Just not quite sure what you are saying here.

The only information I have is what has been released to the public, other than this particular site. Unfortunately, the owner of this site made some changes, and the prior comments are not here as yet. There were several, and much information can be gleaned from those posts.

If you would like (not sure if you do internet research, or the like), I would be more than willing to send you a couple of sites that have excellent news search engines. In addition, at the bottom of the "story" are links to some of the newspapers that have reported on this case.

As for the previous posts, I do not recall much of anything coming by way of family, friends, etc. There was one post in particular, which this site's owner actually incorporated into the story as an "update" (which was not her complete post, but he points out the important parts of the post). I cannot recall how she was related, but she had details that have yet to have been reported by local media.

Unfortunately, Ada County (Boise, Idaho) Court's information is not searchable via the internet (other than using PACER, and I can only access that when I am working on a case . . . my firm pays the fee). Therefore, there is no way to view documents, see scheduled court dates, etc.

I live in Idaho, so pretty much anything that happens here news wise I am aware of it. It is very odd to me that NO news has been released since the initial report, discovery, arrest, and charge. However, if you are familiar with this area and/or State, it is not surprising!

Judy Gough's family kept Lloyd Ford killing a secret

Son who was 9 at the time, now says, ˜What would you do for your mother?˜

For 27 years, Judy Gough's children stayed silent about the body buried in a trunk in the backyard of their Boise Bench home.
Gough's 12-year-old daughter watched her mother kill her stepfather and then helped clean up the mess. At least one of her sons helped bury the body.

Another son, too young in 1980 to know what was going on, found out years later after he moved into the home as an adult.

But they all kept the secret. Until Kimberly Wright, now 39, broke her silence in June. The details she provided police are revealed in court documents obtained by the Idaho Statesman.

Now, 61-year-old Judy Gough is in the Ada County Jail awaiting trial on first-degree murder charges in the 1980 shooting death of Lloyd Ford, who she and the children say was abusive.

Kelly Gough, Wright's half-brother who was 9 in 1980, said knowledge of the murder has burdened family members for years. But they all kept quiet to protect their mother.

"I do know this: Whatever my mom did, she did it to protect her family," Kelly Gough, 36, told the Statesman. "What would you do for your mother? What would you do to protect your child? (Ford) was an abuser. It goes back to what families do."

"My mother carried the worst burden of all."

Kelly Gough said he couldn't speak for his siblings but, for him, the arrest of his mother has not provided any relief. Instead, he feels fear and anxiety over what happened.

Having his mother facing the possibility of life in prison is worse than having to keep a horrible secret, he said.

"I don't know what to feel right now. I don't feel at ease, or that a burden has been lifted. I just feel the weight of sadness for the whole family," he said.

Wright, who no longer lives in Boise, and Kelly Gough's older brother could not be reached.

Gough's husband since 1981, Thomas Gough, declined comment after a hearing last month. Judy Gough has yet to enter a plea, and her lawyer has declined to talk with the Idaho Statesman about the case.

But in search warrant documents obtained by the Statesman, Kimberly Wright revealed harrowing details about the slaying and efforts to conceal it.

Sleeping medicines hidden in the ice cream

In the spring of 1980, Judy Gough — then Judy Ford — lived in the modest house at 4705 Clark St. with Lloyd Ford, his teenage son, and her three children from previous marriages.

Kimberly Wright told police that at some point, Judy Gough decided to kill her husband "because of the poor treatment they all received at the hands of Lloyd Ford," according to the documents.

The following account is drawn from a probable cause hearing and search warrant documents that detailed Wright's interview with police.

For two weeks, Go

UPDATE [11/03/07 Post 2] from http://www.idahostatesman.com/38...ory/ 201461.html

"For two weeks, Gough discussed with 12-year-old Kimberly how to kill Ford. Then she decided on a plan: spiking his ice cream and caramel topping — one of his favorite desserts — with sleeping medication.

She fed Ford the ice cream. The next morning, Judy Gough sent her sons and Ford's son to school. She kept Kimberly home.

Kimberly Wright remembered her mother going into Lloyd Ford's bedroom several times that morning. She also remembered Ford trying to get out of bed and falling into some fishing equipment.

A short time later, the mother turned on a radio in the bedroom and asked Wright to come in.

Gough moved Lloyd Ford to the ground. He wore a burgundy robe over his underwear. Gough got a deer rifle and had Kimberly stand behind her to hold her mother's ears as she fired.

After the gunshot, Wright said, she ran out of the house and hid in a nearby alley.

"Kim explained that she ran because all she could think about (was) Judy missed and Lloyd would be in a rage and beat both of them," Boise police Detective Brian Lee wrote in his affidavit for a warrant to search the Clark Street home.

When Wright returned home, Gough assured her that Ford was dead. Wright saw the gunshot wound to Ford's chest and blood in the bedroom.

Gough got a sheet and asked her daughter to fetch a metal trunk. Gough put the body in the sheet and had her daughter help her drag Ford down the hallway and put him in the trunk.

Gough and Wright went to the Buttrey's store in the nearby Hillcrest Shopping Center to rent a steam cleaner to get the blood trail out of the carpet.

A hole in the backyard

Wright said the body stayed in the trunk on the porch for a few days before it was placed in a hole in the backyard the boys had been digging for a tree. Exactly who buried the body is unclear. Wright told her old boss it was done by her brothers but didn't specify whom she meant.

Kelly Gough said he found out about the killing and the backyard burial from Wright after he bought the home from his mom in 1995. "I was pretty young (in 1980)," he said. "(Ford) was just gone. My mom said he had just left us."

No one filed a missing person's report. When Ford's daughter from a previous marriage stopped hearing from her father in the spring of 1980, Gough told her that Ford had run off with another woman, according to court records.

Judy Gough filed for divorce in 1980. When Ford did not show up for a divorce hearing that summer, Judy Gough was granted the divorce and given the house the couple owned, according to court records.

Wright told Boise police this fall that Lloyd Ford's body may have been moved in 1995 or 1996. She said her mother tried to get several people to help move the body to the desert. She said she did not witness the body being moved. And it's not clear whether it was moved: Boise police investigators found human b

"Boise police investigators found human bone fragments and two bullets in the backyard when they searched in September, according to court records.

Kelly Gough, who is still listed as owner of the Clark Street home, declined to talk about any issues surrounding burial of the body. He has since moved out of the family home.

Daughter confides family's secret

On June 6 this year, Ada County prosecutors got a call from Kimberly Wright's boss in Boise. He said his employee had confided in him about the murder of Lloyd Floyd in 1980, search warrant says.

When police interviewed Wright on Sept. 23, she said she broke her silence because she feared the secret was about to surface and that she needed to get out of town. According to the court documents, she said her brother, Kelly Gough, was trying to extort money from their mother.

Kelly Gough told the Idaho Statesman that his sister's claim of extortion is false. He said he did try to borrow money from his mother and Thomas Gough to cover back taxes on the property. Gough said he did not consider using his knowledge as leverage and did not threaten to reveal what happened to Ford.

"I would never do that to my mom. I love her and totally support her," Kelly Gough said. "This breaks my heart. I love my sister, but this is between her and my mom. I think (Wright) felt she needed to do this to get on with her life."

Thomas Gough had married Judy in 1981 and adopted Kelly a short time later. He did lend his adoptive son the money to pay the taxes on the house, Kelly Gough said, but didn't know then about Lloyd Ford's murder.

It wasn't until Judy was arrested, Kelly Gough said, that Thomas Gough learned the family's secret.

UPDATE [11/03/07] from http://www.idahostatesman.com/38...ory/ 201461.html

"ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

No charges against Judy Gough's children

Boise police and Ada County prosecutors have released little information about the case since Judy Gough's Sept. 29 arrest, but officials say they do not expect to charge any of her children with any crimes.

That decision was made for three reasons, Ada County Prosecutor Greg Bower said: Kimberly Wright and her brothers were children at the time of the murder; the family has cooperated with investigators; and the case is 27 years old.

"Any charges in this would have been as accessories," Bower said last month, "and that doesn't fit the statute of limitations."

Boise police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said police and prosecutors worked hard to figure out what charges "best serve justice" before Judy Gough was arrested. They continue to investigate. Any additional information, she said, will come out in court

"The courtroom is where criminal cases are detailed to the public with perspective and context," Hightower said.

About the case

Judy Gough was arrested Sept. 29, after a taped call between Gough and Wright in which Gough admitted to the murder, according to court testimony.

In that call, Gough said she killed Lloyd Ford because she was afraid of him and wanted to protect the family, according to court records.

During a four-day search of the Goughs' Clark Street home, Boise police found bullets and human bone fragments in the backyard where one child said Ford had been buried, according to court documents.

Officers also removed stained sections of wood flooring in the area where Lloyd Ford was killed.

Judy Gough has not yet entered a plea. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26."

I knew this family growing up,right around this era, this blows my mind!!

Andy:

Which family did you know, i.e., the family with Mr. Ford, or the family with Mr. Gough? I also want to say sorry you have been inpacted, and know this is SHOCKING!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, and I do want to apologize for the double post of the news article (oversight on my part).

The truth will soon surface. It's never pretty. As bad as you think this whole tragedy is...it's worse. There is nothing left of this family. The remnants scattered to the wind.

"Judy Gough posts bond after it is reduced

Woman is accused of killing her husband 27 years ago in Boise. Her trial is set to begin next summer.
Judy Gough, the 61-year-old Nampa woman arrested earlier this year in connection to the shooting death of her husband in 1980, left the Ada County Jail on Thursday and will remain out until her jury trial begins next summer.
Gough, charged with first-degree murder and accused by Boise police of shooting then husband Lloyd Ford in the couple's Boise Bench home 27 years ago, posted a $100,000 bond to get out of jail.

Gough had been incarcerated since her arrest in September on a $500,000 bond. Ada County prosecutors said they were concerned if the bond was lower, Gough could leave Boise before her trial began on June 30.

But 4th District Judge Darla Williamson agreed to a defense motion Thursday to reduce the bond to $100,000 Thursday, with some restrictions, like requiring Gough to keep in frequent contact with her lawyer and follow the recommendations of Boise psychologist Craig Beaver.

Gough is accused of drugging, then shooting Ford with a deer rifle and burying his body in the backyard of their Boise home in the 4700 block of Clark Street in the Boise Bench.

Boise police learned about the murder from Gough's adult daughter, 40-year-old Kimberly Wright, who said that in 1980 she saw her mother kill Ford, her stepfather.

Court records obtained by the Idaho Statesman indicate Gough has said that Ford was abusive toward her and her children at the time of the murder.

Boise police say they taped a phone call between Wright and Gough this fall where Gough admits to killing Ford in 1980 to protect her family, according to court records.

Gough's jury trial on the first-degree murder charge will likely take several weeks.

If found guilty of first-degree murder, Gough could be sent to prison for the rest of her life without the possibility of parole.
