I had Nancy Grace on in the background and believe I heard that Holley has kids. Since they were talking about this case and Megan's homicide someone has kids. Did anyone else catch it? |

Diane - from the Observer: |

Just over a mile apart when they went missing. If they don't question the husband again soon, I'm thinkin' serial. |
You thinking what Im thinking? Would start checking on people with access to thier personal information. You have to let your chain of command know if you are pregnant and you also have to notify them of DV. Both cases could easily be tied to the spouse or significant other. Not necessarily a soldier, can also be a civilian contractor working at the hospital. My money is on a pac clerk. Recently transfered vet, age 25 to 42, SFC and below in grade, african american or hispanic. Likely transfered from a combat unit where the warrior ethos is prevalent. Probably divorced within the last 3 years. Would certainly look for a background criminal history of arson, theft and assault. Check thier private quarters for trophies. |

I don't know why but I have a feeling there is a superman sticker somewhere or a tattoo. |
I dont think you will find much of a history with black serial killers. |

Reply to Ellie, |

Another woman in North Carolina disappeared this morning (from Cary, which is in the Raleigh area). |
There have been a number of black serial killers, the Skid Row Slasher from the 1970s coming readily to mind, as well as the D.C. Sniper. They usually don't get as much press as the BTKs and Dahmers, though. |

This is not good, I pray it is not Holley. |
FYI Edythe Wilson's boyfriend, one Charles Ashley Batchelor, has been charged in her murder: |
Are you kidding ? The only relation in the 2 killings is domestic homicide. |
John Wimunc, husband of dead Fort Bragg soldier Holley Wimunc, has been charged with first-degree arson. |
The husbands/boyfriends did it, end of story. Ft. Bragg is a very violent environment, lots of domestic violence. I lived there in high school, these are not the first such cases, the only real coincidence is the that they occurred in a short time frame. But sometimes there is a "snowball" factor in these domestic killings which hasn't been explained. There were, I believe, five in a short time period a few years ago, same locales. In those cases, the husbands had been recently deployed and PTSD was cited as a factor. It was well covered nationally. |
For all those willing to give up their serial/Zodiac theories, here's the link to the CBS story on the last group of domestics out of Ft. Bragg. I'm telling you, when I lived there it was called "Fayettenam" and it wasn't because it was a warm and fuzzy family environment. |
Well, I feel terrible for anyone that has ever been the victim of domestic violence. The millitary is great at teaching us to do bad things to bad people and horrible at helping us recover. Anyone from a combat unit remember what you say in PT when they tell you to relax during stretching exercises? I hope they improve the way they treat returning vets. I watched a show on prisons overflowing in california. They pack them in gymnasiums with bunk beds and they get no privacy. Can you imagine a gymnasuim full of aggressive violent offenders double stacked and crammed in. The show said it was making them worse and that they were killing each other. The guards were reveling in it, saying it was just punishment. A little space, some chill tunes and a couple cold ones on a beach in mexico would serve returning troops well. Male or female. |
Just saw a newbrief on WRAL in Raleigh stating that the husband has been charged with first degree murder. His accomplice has also been charged as an accessory, not sure of the actual charge for him. |
Interesting. I'm not sure what's going on, but there has been a rising wave of domestic killings involving soldier returning from combat -- the 2002 article about killings at Fort Bragg reference earlier, there were several killings near Fort Lewis a few years ago as well that involved soldiers returning and killing spouses and sometimes themselves. |
It sure seems like it's open season on wives and pregnant women in NC lately. |
I believe the other missing woman in NC has been found in a pond 2 miles from her home. |
I saw the mug shot of John Wimunc. He is wearing a sh1t eating grin and looks completely smug. |
I live here on Fort Bragg, and I tried to ask the newspaper for updates regarding the Touma case, but they have nothing for me. Why has the news gone cold with this case? This seems a bit odd that they have not given any info regarding the "fiance" yet the Wimunc murder was quickly linked to her husband even before the body was found. They released his name immediately, but did not release Touma's alleged "fiance's" name (I mean other than on here). How could he not be considered a suspect when he didn't come out of the shadows after seeing her picture on TV that she was dead. Will the case go cold as others have? I hope they connect someone soon since I am terrified to think of the alternative. |
I study a few years ago about a soldier who request emergency get out to take care of a domestic problem. He returnee home and kills himself and his wife. |
The Cape Fear area serial killings have apossible suspect now--a registered sex offender who was driving a cab around the time the various women disappeared. |
They arrested Edgar Patino for Megan's murder. It was a quarter horse not a zebra. Another baby daddy. |
Thanks, Diane. I am so not surprised by that. |
I sure miss your insight on cases and the posts to follow. |
Thank you -- but you're going to get more of that than you can handle, soon |
