Yeah. That phrase about punching like a girl has pretty much lost its meaning from when we were kids.

Scary stuff -- these girls are so young and so determined to be cruel. Sadly, they kept saying "not fair" like a bunch of five year old. For all their worldly ways and adult appearance, they are emotionally very immature. Is that what we a missing -- that if they dress and look like adults, we forget they are still emotionally children? I know this a pointless rhetorical question, but where were the adults?

I find it disgusting to read the mother of one of the girls complaining about the victim. She was upset that the victim got on myspace and laughed that everyone got put in jail and the mother commented that she couldn't be hurt "that bad" if she could get online. WTF???
Sadly, its no surprise that her child would act in such an atrocious manner. Some people claim that this normal high school behavior. Hardly! I hope the school is able to step in and suspend the criminals from participating in their extracurriular activities (I guess some were cheerleaders with the girl) and that the judge gives them more than just a slap on the wrist.

Liz,
And what about the father that was blaming Youtube and saying they had a lot to answer for. They just provide the forum-- and most videos there aren't of teenage girls beating the crap out of each other.
Why is it that no one takes any sort of personal responsiblity anymore? No wonder we seem to be raising a generation of miscreants. (My own little darlings and those of truecrimeweblog posters excluded of course!)

Obviously you never played on a girls' soccer team when you were kid. Until you've taken an elbow-punch to the stomach from a goalie, you haven't been punched by a girl. :P
(that was over 26 years ago here, so no lines about how much "younger" I must be, you young whippersnappers, you. *cracks you across knees with my cane*)

I'm pretty sure you're younger than me anyway, Chris
Still, that's a good point. And two of the hardest punches I can recall taking in elementary school came from Tracy Malcolm and Missy Stephens, respectively, who were probably aware that I wasn't about to hit or fight with a girl.
I'm also the brother of a woman who fought off a potential rapist with what must have been a truly wicked series of blows to the face and nuts. Then again, my big sis was always a bit of an Amazon. Whenever I try to picture warrior queen Boudica, I think of my sister Sherry at about age 24 or so.
By the way, Missy, the girl who popped me good in 2nd grade, is still one of my top MySpace friends. I guess we got over it :P
