Phenix City Police have received many calls about whether there's a connection between the Lauren Burk case and a robbery suspect they arrested this afternoon.
Courtney Lockhart of Smiths Station was pulled over for speeding late this morning.
Courtney Lockhart was arrested around 11:30 this morning after police stopped him for speeding in Phenix City.
News Three has exclusive video to the right of your screen of Lockhart as police transported him to the Russell County Jail.
He admitted to investigators that he committed at least five armed robberies in recent weeks.

Although Steve cautions us against making large leaps in connecting crimes, I wondered if one murder was personal, and the other random, but done by the same person to muddy the investigation.
May the families of Lauren and Eve receive some answers.

"Courtney" was usually a name for males. It is a French place name and was a surname. It only came into vogue for girls with other gender-neutral names like Madison, Mackenzie, Lindsay and so forth. Unlike Sue.

Humans see patterns even when none exist. There's no connection between the murders of these two college girls, save the most general, meaning they seem to have been committed by complete strangers of another race & gender.

The Eve Carson murder appears to be gang-related. Hoover Crips. Lauren Burke's murder maybe gang-related, too.

Westboro Baptist Church is planning to launch one of their protests at Lauren's funeral. They have also scheduled a protest at the funeral of Eve Carson.

These people and I use the term loosely at Westboro Baptist Church are sick. They are no better than the ones who committed the crimes IMO.

Both of these girls are from my home state and deserve nothing but a proper service without interference from some radical sicko group that associates themselves with religion.

This is their website and if you look under their picket schedule they have a whole page of rhetoric about why these kids deserved their fate. Blasphemy , yes and it is the some of most despicable writings I have ever seen.
I hope that there will be enough law enforcement present so that the families will not have to be exposed to these nut cases and their hate speech during these two young ladies services today in Georgia.

Upon a closer look at Westboro "Baptist", it turns out that it is a charismatic cult comprised almost entirely of two inter-married families, whose relgious tenants (created by the founder, their father) who do not believe in marrying outside their faith. I would not be surprised to learn that the granchildren and great-granchildren of Old Man Phelps turn out to be his own offspring. At least that means once the hateful old fuck dies, his church dies with him.

These fools also rallied at the Brianna Dennison funeral. She is the student that was found raped/murdered after a couple of weeks of being missing in Reno. She was TAKEN from a couch in a friends home. She wasn't out late at night, or doing anything to portray "whore-ness". The Reno community rallied and all wore white sheets over their clothing and stood in a line with their arms raised and outstretched around the perimeter of the happenings at the funeral. They looked like angels standing there guarding the friends and family that attended. I just thought that was a wonderful way to combat these fools.
Self righteousness and insanity are not a good combination.
The Patriot Guard was there to help at Eve's funeral. Thank God for them.
