Geez, y'all are doing that, now?

Sorry, Steve.

This would actually be a nice place to continue the case discussion. Maybe we can even get a fresh start and act like civilized adults on here.

I'm sad to see the old comment thread has disappeared. Lots of good links on that thread.

I told you before. This website threads are full of sockpuppets!

kevin, meman2 and Luke (or siamese twins?)

You name them! LOL

Good article on Radar, Steve. New info came out this morning about a suspect whose dna places him at the scene.

says the troll with multiple user names...

This will turn out to be a rape; probably with AK in the house at the time, but not involved in either the rape or the murder -- I don't think there is any convincing evidence so far that there was any cleanup by either AK or RS. The evidence let out may have been to scare AK or RS in to telling what she knows. The guy must have been so drunk or stoned that he didn't even realize that he left prints on the bed. This story has been over-sensationalized - like a piece of fiction. like the stories that AK wrote.

(1)Congrats, Steve. Glad to have given you a kick-start on this one (or had you beaten me to the idea?)

(2) the fact-checkers need to work a little harder: Meredith's body was on the floor and not the bed, and she was not stabbed there (no blood) but in front of the wardrobe, and was in fact stabbed in the throat rather than having her throat cut. The latter action would have hit the carotid artery whereas the stabbing action led to the slower bleeding out. An even more horrific result.

(3) the original thread is going just fine, thank you. Some people need to expand their parameters of tolerance, especially as no real troll has appeared there (such as appeared at the Nailah Franklin thread), nor have I detected true sock-puppetry. It has been and remains a truly civilized exchange of ideas and, yes, research, cf the various mapping efforts. And also graced by what we've called on-the ground reports from people in Italy and or in Perugia. Quality-wise, I'd rank it in top 3 of all your thread/comments, Steve.

Keep up the good work.

I have to say that thread is probably second to only the Taylor Behl coverage. Everyone is bringing something to the table, whether they realize it at that exact moment or not. It's essential to keep an open mind, because you never really know which idea/thought/theory will get collective "brain" going. Brainstorming can be a beautiful thing, but no storm without a little rain here and there.

ALL, (including you, Robert):

The article was complete days ago. Unlike a blog entry, it wasn't online the moment I finished. You have to view it as you might view a print article -- the lag time is less, but there is still a lag between submission, editing time, and checking. And any slowness on the part of the checkers was my fault -- I have had to change the way I take notes entirely, going from a system that was thorough but organized in a way that made sense only to me to even more thorough note-taking and a way of organizing the notes that makes the checking process faster for folks in NYC.

Any corrections to the article taking into account developments in the last couple of days are moot -- like I said, it isn't a blog entry.

Steve

Superb, Steve!

And, Robert, I like that expression: "parameters of tolerance".

I know what sock puppets are but I'm not sure how they manifest as comments?

I thought the Haines family murders was an excellent post, too.

I didn't think that was a troll at the Nailah Franklin post. That was a member of the local (I'm in Chicago) African-American community. I understood the vernacular and I think most of the other Chicago posters did, too.

The tough posts are the ones where people are too upset to tolerate the discussion because they are bereaved and grieving. Those are the toughest.

Here an article of the fourth suspect, with a link to a video placed on 6/6 on youtube. This guy is sick!!!!

pardon me......But what the hell is a sockpuppet?....It doesn't sound to good, for some reason.....??

Poor knoxy. She must be forced by this weird monter. Three cuts, three people involved, an unwell thought.

If Amanda was in the house and was NOT a part of this murder and was really drunk, wouldn't they rape her too? I just don't understand how all of these people could attack one girl. I am in such denial.

A Perugia blog I've been following states Patrick Lumumba Diya was just freed from jail. No other info.

http://tinyurl.com/37nnrz

I'm reading that Patrick Lumumba has been freed from jail - the Prosecutors saying there is no case against him.

Bill Nye? non-wife? Huhwhah?

Ergh. Thanks, Steve, for completely blowing my illusions of Science Geeks Being Cool & Grounded.

(ok, I realize that's probably not the common perception, but STILL...)

For the record, I've thought I smelled a whiff of racism inherent in Diya's arrest from the beginning. Coming from the American South, I feel like I spot such things pretty easily.

He never fit. His alleged involvement struck me as the sort of thing a psychopathic young American woman might come up with to both mess with someone who had some authority over her in some way (her boss, for instance) and deflect any attention from her own actions.

Just an opinion, at this point.

Are people going to keep posting on here? I couldnt find comments on the RADAR site...

Apologies if this link has already been posted.

Interesting comment from Steve re: Lumumba. Was Knox really that arrogant that she thought she could pin it on him? Possibly - she may well have thought that he was an easy scapegoat.

Oh Luke come on. You don't really believe Chikita Bakana is coyotewaits. He was just trying to help him.
Lets get some posting on here again and take care.
Thank you for helpful posts too

Jenny...go to Steve's front page...and on the left hand side....Look for November.......People have been still posting on that same topic there....although,things have slowed down pretty good......

blimeyhecks -- at this point, anything's possible where Amanda is concerned, but if she killed Meredith and covered it up, I'd say she's a psychopath and fully capable of thinking she could pin the murder on the "black dude."

But someone made a good point elsewhere -- Lumumba could have been taken in in part because police forensically identified hairs from a black man at the crime scene. Coupled with Amanda blaming him, you can see how initially, at least, the cops might want to set him aside to question as much as possible.

Don't forget that PL erased a text message that he received from Amanda on the night of the murder; changed the codes on his cell phone the day after the murder; and his cell phone pinged the tower near AK's and MK's house on the night of the murder. There is some suspicious circumstantial evidence that still has not been fully explained.

blah - I don't get why erasing a text is so suspicious. I trash mine shortly after they come in *unless* they contain vital information I can't immediately write down, but am bound to need, because: 1) I can store a limited amount of text messages, 2) I don't want to have to dig through many messages that serve no purpose to find the one that does, 3) sometimes my TXT indicator stays on even after all my new msgs are read... and that's annoying.

I'm not sure which codes he changed, and earlier I had someone speak of SIM cards. I don't find that suspicious either but I know plenty of people with multiple phones who frequently swap out. I know this isn't always true, and many have failed in this regard, but it seems to me that someone 'smart' enough to try to cover tracks by deleting txts and changing codes (or cards) would be smart enough to realize that just doesn't work.

I'm sure that had the police found him to be suspicious, they'd have gladly held him for another eleven months. AFAIK, the only real thing linking him were AK's statements. Which are ever changing. I trust that chick about as far as I can throw her.

Ok.. Here is what I am thinking... Not that you care ha-ha
But... I think that maybe AK called PDL in a panic... telling him to come right away... He came over, saw the scene and said "F This, you're on your own" and he split.... Or... maybe... he was at that basketball court buying some Hashish...? That guy who was arrested yesterday was known to deal drugs in the basketball court near their flat... And he also dated someone who worked at La Chic... so that could have been his Hash connection... It would explain why the ping was near their home... He easily could have left the bar to buy some hash... makes sense... and doesn't make him a murder... just places him near the scene.... I must say.... I don't think he is guilty or involved.. but I think he knows something... Not sure what, or why he didn't spill it in the clink... I'm crazy.. dont mind me...

Thanks Meman for the tip!

Lumumba has made a statement to say he will never forgive Knox for implicating him - and who can blame him?

I'm glad Diya was set free. I fully agree with Steve on this, and the media perpetuated the 'big, bad, black guy' myth - at least in the depiction of his arrest in the UK media. Distasteful to say the least. I note the new arrest was played a little differently.

I have to say, it doesn't look good for the three who remain in custody. Ms Knox comes across in her blogs and video as a somewhat spoilt child/adult. There is a distinct lack of maturity that is unsettling. She seems to disregard the implications of her actions. I'm glad she has finally stopped talking though.

Blimeyhecks at last we agree on something. Knox's implication of Lumumba is something that would be difficult for him to forget let alone forgive.

I definitely hope that the US govt. gets involved. Without their intervention...this case will go on and on and on without fruition. Unfortunately, that's the Italian way. They will keep investigating and will arrive at no definitive conclusion. I cannot remember reading a single homicide case in over 4 years (living for the most-part there - in Italy) that concluded in any clarity or justice being served. Blah, blah, blah...On and on it will go...With the facts being splattered and lost along the way until - the media loses interest. This is the Italian way. Read that. Seen it. Have NO faith in it.

I think the case is being thoroughly examined and I think it looks like the Knox tried to somehow move everything onto Patrick yet he did do things that are deemed suspicious by some of his actions.

I wonder if they will be released today? I doubt it.

Knox is saying she was never in the house at the time of the murder - how many times has her story changed now?!

http://tinyurl.com/2u7ryz

In keeping with most such cases in Italy, her stories will continue to change in keeping with her lawyers whims. The more convoluted and confused the reports...the better for her defence.

In keeping with most such cases in Italy, this will go and on and on without resolution until everything gets so confused that the evidence itself will bring no clear conclusions...

Politics and power brokers will ensure that this case is never resolved.

The only hope here is if Meredith's family comes to terms with the fact that the Italian's will not find justice for their daughter. Perhaps if UK lawyers and investigators are brought in...then, maybe (but not likely - given how much has gone on) the truth will come out...
