Gravatar Hi, Truffle, Erin here. (Many thanks for the good ink you've given me in the past.)

A friend of mine sent this to me as soon as she saw it. We were struck by a sense of how shocked the researchers were that females, rather than males, would engage in the large majority of weapons manufacture and use. Not just the male researchers, but the female researchers. It's not like women, including an increasing number of modern American women, don't hunt. (I expect to join them soon.) Or own and use firearms in self-defense and in war.

I find it fascinating that women often refuse to understand that it is better to have a skill, a profession, or a craft (and thus money) of your own, than not; better to be armed than unarmed, better to be strong and brave than weak and fearful. (This has nothing to do with the limitations we all posses.)

This is clearly as true amongst chimpanzees than huamns. Those females (and their friends and children) eat better than the ones who don't use weapons to hunt.

As for whats-her-name-in-Salon, or for that matter what's-his-name in your "Homophobes with Issues" post, just remember, this is the best they can do. When producers or editors run them, just remember, this is not only what they think is important, this is what they think we think is important, along with what's-her-face-who-shaved-her-head and what's-her-name-who-died-in-the-Bahamas.

This is what they think of us.

(I'm at the point where I refuse to mention these peopel at all: even negative attention is attention.)

Best, and with apologies for any typos I didn't catch,

Erin
