Thanks for posting my site on your blog. It is independent of the real thing, so it is nice to be recognised.
Stonehenge remains a wonderful place, despite the efforts of English Heritage and I hope you met interesting people there, as I still feel that is its primary purpose.
Next time you venture over to Blighty, visit Avebury, also featured on my site, as it is bigger, more interesting and open and free!! Since English Heritage and The National Trust have joint responsibility for it, they can never agree on anything and so, it retains its integrity.
There is a risk to this of course, as a daubing of symbols on the stones in the recent past necessitated removal with paint-stripper, which kills the lichens, possibly thousands of years old. But generally there is great respect for the place and much celebration at the appropriate times of the year. Huge beech trees are there also, with exposed root structures, which inspired Tolkien to write his Hobbit and other LOR books. The 'Michael and Mary' lines also converge as they pass through Avebury's north and south circles. (See http://www.pauldevereux.co.uk/ and his books)
Enough blethering. The guys digging out the Grand Canyon are doing a great job, too.
Lots of love, Alan
