Hypocritical commentary

Gravatar Rick:

Thanks for the kind comment. I am excited for many of the reasons you give but have a different view on it.

When I was in magazine publishing years ago, the barriers to entry were huge and the costs to stay in were daunting. Now, the whining on how to make blogging pay seems graceless in the face of the much reduced publishing cost picture. Most of us who blog would never have made it to print in the past, let alone had our rantings read far and wide.

To me part of the excitement is that although many of the same methods for monetization are still to be used, we are all challenged to create something new.

Looking forward to reading your blog in the future.

Amanda

Gravatar Amanda,

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I'm honored.

I think blogging, for many, is an enjoyable activity, and one for which they have a passion. And I honestly believe that the people who have an inherent desire to earn a living by blogging will accomplish that, as the magazine folks did.

The majority of "whining" stems, it seems, not from those who have the passion, but from those who wish it were an easy path to fame and fortune.

In any case, it will be interesting to sit and watch.

Thanks, again,
Rick

Gravatar Jim,

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Great find. Maybe if I were a little more diligent before my whining...?

And thanks for the comment, too.

Take care,
Rick
