I agree with your assessment that Google Reader adds no value over existing tools like bloglines (even though there are easy pickings in the aggregator market right now - allow viewing and posting comments from within the aggregator for example, or allow downloading all the new content locally etc). I am not so sure of Writeboard also. Sure, its a wiki and less which follows their mantra of less is less. But it just might be too less in this case.

It's interesting to hear your feedback on Writeboard. Most of what I've heard has been of the "greatest thing since sliced bread" variety. I, myself, haven't had occasion to muck with the functionality, but I hope to do so.

I guess what I found so interesting was that these two similar launches were met with such different receptions.
