The post was more of an allegory focusing on the prevailing hype around Web 2.0 BETAs and the interesting construct of capturing people's email addresses to be part of that BETA team.
However, given that a number of readers will likely arrive on this page after searching for "BETA," I'm hopeful that your link provides them with some other avenues to pursue.

You know, you are so right. I chuckled as I read your post because I don't even remember what invites I'm waiting on anymore. Thank goodness for my neverending supply of spamgourmet e-mail addresses.

You and I both know that we're carefully tracking every single invite for which we've submitted. You can't fool me.
