I am neither in Marketing, self-employed or even from Portland. However, I DO like your blog and waltz over here regularly because I just like what you write.
You totally fit my pre-conceived notions of a Portland environ (I only just recently parted from Columbia Forest Products that is headquartered in Portland and is oh NOT so high tech...) so I worked closely with the Portland staff on a daily basis.
I am very excited for you to have moved to the world of being self-employed. I have done that before and it is exciting/scary.
I will continue to read to find out if I am indeed a "fan" or a "contributor to your demise"

Deannie,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share those kind words.
I'm glad that the writing keeps you coming back, and I sincerely hope it's not because you simply can't sift through all the blather in one sitting.
Here's hoping the new journey remains equally entertaining. And please feel free to tell me when it doesn't.
In any case, I do truly appreciate your staying tuned.
Take care,
Rick

Good luck!! It's a different (and scary) place out on your own, but also very rewarding.

Thanks, Susan. I keep hearing the old adage, "The worst day on your own is better than the best day working for someone else."
I'm hoping that I don't get the opportunity to refute that adage.

In addition to the kind comments here, I also wanted to thank all the folks who have emailed me with advice and well-wishing. It's greatly appreciated. More than I can ever say.
