One of my best friends went to the signing and called me while she was waiting in line. I begged her to yell, "Texas Poppet" so I could meet you via phone, but she refused.

I'm going to have to be the ignorant one here because I have never heard of this lady or her book. BUT!! I am definitely going to look her up, especially after such a great write-up like this!
That is so fun. Love the story. I can't believe someone insulted Texas shopping while in the hallowed halls of Northpark. I am surprised a gallows of pearls and twin sets wasn't immeadiately constructed.

Ooooh, that event is definitely on the top of the coolosity meter. (I'm practicing making up words for the benefit of Janet from her own Planet). What a nice person she sounds like. I was accidentally in a bookstore during an author signing (no one I knew), but she entertained questions, and some of the askers were indeed raving idiots. I really think they should do like on "What Do You Know?" and let everyone write their question on a card. Save everyone the embarrassment.
I am SO jealous! I live in Houston and she is my favorite author. I laugh the entire time reading. I would LOVE to have met her but unfortunately, Houston was not on her list (but not for lack of me being a comment stalker and saying "Houston" about a couple hundred times). That's awesome!!
Just remember who gave you your first Jen Lancaster book....
