Do they need to be refrigerated? I'm assuming that by 'icicle pickles' they are refrigerator pickles...

It's very close to pickling time! The postmistress here brings in armloads of fresh dill and posts a 'free' sign - getting your mail smells so good!

@Ree: Yes, they really are that easy!
@Gretchen: Unlike Refrigerator pickles, these are kept in the cupboard. They are "Icicle" pickles because putting the very COLD cukes into HOT jars and covering with HOT liquid will give you crisp pickles that will seal tightly as the jar cools. Refrigerator pickles don't seal properly and need to be kept cold after canning to prevent bacteria (but they're yummy, too!)
