I read just about everything Neumann wrote when I was in college, including Origins and History and The Great Mother (remember the 50s monster movies? "I Was a Teenage Jungian!"). But I never knew much about the man. Thanks, Tzemach, for bringing this to our attention.
One thinks of Freudianism and Jungianism as "different religions." How surprising that Dr. Neumann encouraged his son to follow the neo-Freudians for career reasons, and that none of the Neumann children remained loyal to the Jungian legacy. Too much pain and frustration for these Holocaust refugees, it seems.

Dear Sy Phenomenon, you were the first to tell me about Dr. Neumann. Thank you very much.

Hello,
I was happy to see your post about Neumann. I am researching him for a project and want to figure out his exact date of birth. When I first read your post, I figured he must've been born the week of Jan 29th since that's when you posted. But then it occured to me that maybe you posted your blog a while after reading the article in Haaretz. If you happen to remember that far back, could you let me know? Is Neumann's b-day the week of Jan 29th? (The link to the article no longer works.) Thanks. (Sorry if this is a double post..I think something happened with the first one.)

J-bird, yes that's the problem with Haaretz they take articles off line. I will stop linking to them.
but i found the article pointing here:
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pag...l?
itemNo=533094
it does not list his date of birth, only 1905 like Wikipedia.
