I think many of us would be interested in hearing from reasonable people in Ch about the meaning of the results .
Sperlin is the current Chair of the council .
Plotkin is a older Geza man who also serves as a p/t shliach in the Ukraine and claims to be a great fund raiser.
Who are the other winners especially Mr. Rubashkin .

Gravatar >UPDATE: Via Shmarya. A question to
>our readers: who is Moshe
>Rubashkin who pleaded guilty to bank
>fraud here in the court papers? Is
>that the same person?

To answer Tzemach Atlas's question:

1) Per Federal Bureau of prisons records:
http://inmateloc.bop.gov/locator...ordocs/ home.jsp

Inmate Information for MOSHE RUBASHKIN
Inmate Register Number : 56932-066
Name : MOSHE RUBASHKIN
Age : 46
Race : WHITE
Sex : MALE
Date Released : 2/23/04

2) Per public records I've accessed:

There are few people with the name Moshe Rubashkin in the US. The only Moshe Rubashkin I could find in the US who was 46 years old was Rabbi Moshe Rubashkin of Brooklyn, NY.

Gravatar "Tzemach says: The winner Moshe Rubashkin will become Chair of the Vaad and now naturally we will never, ever hear any explanation about Shechitagate from any Chabad Rabbi."

Call the Beis Din, here's the phone number ... 718-604-0770

Oh yea, and have you noticed how this is really a non-issue now? The meat is fine. Rubashkins still has all it's certifications. Where are all the big Rebbeim? Backing Rubashkins!

Gravatar Do people in CH know they seemingly elected an ex con as their lay leader ? This is astounding !

Gravatar Note also that this was not a one time criminal act. There is a history:

"In his motion, Rubashkin clams
that this Court improperly considered earlier criminal conduct that
resulted in an Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (“ARD”) in a Pennsylvania trial court."

Gravatar It's the same Moshe Rubashkin.

Means nothing. The Vaad Hakohol is a meaningless organization in CH. They used to hold some sway over the local Badatz, but have had some run ins with them recently, and the badatz itself is split.

So, an informed judgement - no power, no control over more than one or two rabbonim. Nice ego trip, though.

Gravatar Now that Crown Heights has new lay leadership, would it not be the appropriate time to make peace with the surviving member of the ruling family of Lubavitch.
In Russia, the Romanov's have been welcomed back and apologies made as to the manner the Communists treated them in the end.
Perhaps CH and the world Lubavitch community could welcome the only surviving descendent of the RaShaB back to the world of Lubavitch. This man has no interest in leading the movement and no material interests . But it seems a shame that the festering split has been allowed to remain an open wound in the history of Chabad.
Could this not be the first step in appointing a new leader of Lubavitch ?

Gravatar No way and you know it.

Gravatar Of course Shmarya is correct.
