I found the book repetitive and difficult. (I think the Publisher's Weekly review hits it right on the head).

That being said, it's still an important book.

His earlier book, pubished by Jason Aronson is an easier read and contains much – but not all – of the same information.

But I am not going to bother. Because first you would have to read the book to continue this conversation on a level that is of interest to me and my readers.

A few years ago the "gedolim" decided to follow the lead of the Gerre rebbe and ban large weddings. However, they included big loopholes re: roshei yeshivos and their financial supporters.(see ads in Yated of the time). So let's not pretend that running after money was an invention of the lubavitcher rebbe when he made his "gevirim" yechidus.

The excerpts from the book given in pdf are very close to the mark. I was a very big supporter of a local Chabad house and helped found it.
