In general there are no Jewish organizations purporting to reprsent World Jewry that are run along democratic lines with free and open elections.
The WJC has become the toy of Bronfman and his "Huif Jude" Rabbi Israel Singer. And Singer and the other executives were probably very concerned about their pension funds.
What a distance Jewish chartiy work has travelled from the days of rav Henkin and Ezras Torah to the modern Jewish communal executive paid at least a 6 figure salary.
Issi Liebler deserves our yasher koach.
Financial transparency is not enough. A group like the WJC should have electinos with all due paying members elligable to vote.

Here you go again, quoting your hero, Isi Leibler. Or shall we call him Isi LIBELer. Have you read any of his incriminating communications that were quoted in the WJC report. You might not be so enamored after you do. He's not such a fine and upstanding sort himself. He at the very least misrepresented the details of the series of events leading up to the "scandal". I'm not disagreeing that there needs to be reform in the governance of these major jewish organizations. I do, however, feel that the evidence does not point to fraud by the execs of the WJC. I think a little restraint is in order before you testify aginst them in the court of public opinion. Read the report. Tell me what you think after you do.

So? What's the commentors point? Is there something wrong with being concerned with your pension after decades of service? I dont think Shneur could claim that Singer and other jewish leaders have not done a tremendous amount for the Jewish community. Should we expect them not to feed, clothe and educate their families as well? Should we expect them to retire onto social security?

More disturbingly, every report of salaries of jewish leaders over the past five years has shown that Singer has one of the lowest salaries of any executive of these orgs. He makes less than 2/3 of what people like malcolm hoenlein and abe foxman do, while having accomplished 10 time their amount. Of course, for this, he's been villified by ingrates like shneur and leibler. If leibler had been in charge of the WJC, there'd be 1/100 of the poor survivors recieving money that currently are. If schneur had his way, singer'd have gone into private sector and made a fortune a long time ago, and the Jewish world would be a lot worse off for it.
And, for that matter, leibler has had his share of financial perks from the WJC - read all about it in the pages of the WJC report at

Not exactly mr. clean himself.
Most amusingly, however, is leibler's use of teh word profane. This from a man whose rough and tumble political maneuvers and utter disregard for propriety and civility have been the scourge of Jewish professional life for the last 25 years. Ask anyone who knows him from australia or from rehavia - his abrasive personality and foul mouth are legend. All of a sudden, he's become a blushing maiden.
Also, since the plenary, I beleive there's been ONE high profile article, from a publication taht usually take weeks to months to research a piece - and leibler wasted no time sending it out with the claim that it is one of many. Actually, I'm pretty sure that the issue has died down for everyone except this one obsessed lunatic.
tzemach, you should know better than to post drivel like this.

WHO IS THE SHLIACH THAT GOT THIS?? Can you please find out.
The shmais.com site has reported that one of the U.S. shluchim got a telephone call a few days ago; notifying him that he would receive an estate valued over 30 million dollars! This has been the largest donation ever received by a private person to any Chabad institute. The previous record was a $21 million estate left to Chabad of California by Hermine Weinberg.
