i wonder how i can get some of their money i will open a rescue center in afgahnistan i think there are 2 shuls and 3 jews there

Presently federations are controlled by Jewish American oligarchs . All federations are controlled by a very small group of multi millionaires who in turn choose social workers to administer these groups. Both the executives and the board ar e total ame-horaatzim.
I propose an un American idea :democratically elected federation board where each Jew in New Haven , Boston or Little rock can vote for his choice to the board.
If this is enacted new executives will decide to allocate money based on traditional Jewish values.
After working for the late CJF myself I decided that aboloshing the office itself would save American Jewry over $1 million in salaries (in 1980 the 3 top executives garnered over 300,000 in total salries !, overhead, rents and working vacations, catered luncheons and seminars in plush hotels.
Jewish poverty in many middle level American jewish communities could be solved with that sort of cash.
But then again we wuld have new charty cases the Jewish civil servant who in many cases has spent decades living off the fat of Jewish charity,.

The CJP plainly states that half of its charity goes to Israel and half goes locally ... people can apportion their own tsedaka according to their perception of need and mitzvah.

Regarding the ridiculous underfunding of Jewish education ... this is a plague whose effects we feel daily and whose punishment will be fatal for our short-sighted Jewish community if we do not take care of it soon.

The fact that the CJP gives aprox 1/2 a million yearly to Dnepropetrovsk is in fact a very good investment of the Tzedakah money.

1. Dnepropetrovsk under the leadership of Chabad is modern day miracle. Spend some time their and you will see that all the money has been put to good use. I myself have spent 2 summers their, and I have seen firsthand the institutions that have helped thousands of jews, from birth until old-age. The success that Dnepropetrovsk has had over the past 15 years is unparalled throughout the entire fomer USSR.

2. I am sure that the Boston CJP, using Dnepropetrovsk as an example of their humanitarian/educational work, has surely encouraged many jews to donate much more that they would of regularly. I will even attemt to say that this "gimmick" is the cause for a greater budget in the CJP, for sure covering the 1/2 million they sentd to Dnepropetrovsk. For example look what Tzach in Israel did with the "Yaldei Chernobel" project....

In regards to the last comment. One can not help but wonder how much money the nationwide Lubavitcher community donates to various local federation campaigns.
How much money does CH donate to the NY federation ?
And finally how much money do the CH people and shluchim themselves donate to various overseas Lubavitcher projects.
Is a shliach from city X under any moral or halachic obligation to cut a check to a shliach in city Y for a project there ?
It just seems to me that in terms of money Lubavitch is always on the receiving end of the stick in regrads the general jewish community and the MO community.
When Gutnick was still in the saddle attempts at involving him in YU were not successful as I was told.
Of ocurse MO Jews are told they need to support Chabad schols and activities.
By the way is Chabad ready to support programs in east Europe sponsored by secular Jewish groups ?
