My comes from the same place, the same table, surrounded by the same books, wrapped by the same wise, caring and slightly trembling hand. It is green at the top, and very joyful and uplifted. That's probably what I lack
Your looks modest, shy and out of mainstream. You possess all those.
There is no general rule in what and how we choose. One chooses a buddy, another - a dream.
Have a wonderful year.

chana alias, I have been busy deleting your chit chat posts. Please take a vacation. Thanks.
PS So we get the terminology right. You are not a blogger, I am. You are a commentator.

One of the Esrog sellers here, a reknowned Talmid Chacham and chasdan, told me that he has trouble picking esrogim, because hidur is in the eye of the beholder. If your son had a bletl, would you think he was not mehadrin min hamehadrin? That is why he must know his customers before he picks esrogim, and there are no set "ma'alahs" that he can look for. He must match the person with the esrog.
Perhaps he should go into shadchanus.

Unfortunately, I'm not in love with my esrog this year; although it is very clean, good shape and has some green. It's just too big for my liking - I like them to be on the smaller size (maybe about the size of my fist).
TA, When you lived in NY where did you get your Esrog?

The rav Rabbi Soloveitchik was reported to have ordered and bought his Esreg at a Boston Hebrew Book store without the fuss that our new Frume "fein shmecker" make about their choice.
The fancy esrogim and their fancier boxes and the silver and gold are not the way of Reisin and Lithuania.
Gut yontev to all !
