Your own obsession with Lubavitch notwithstanding, if you're already making the comparisons to other youth gatherings, you may want to note the complete absence of hatred from this one. My own scout meetings in Ramat Gan at a similar age (circa 1967) were a great deal more vehement and militaristic.

TA, the tactics resemble those used by totalitarian countries, are similar to them, but it is not accurate to say they are the same. I am not splitting hairs. To get into power Mao and Stalin had threaten all dissenters with beheading, or banishment to the gulag. There is dissent in Chabad of the Meshichistim. Yes, Chana Gourary was beaten up, but his is not the same as setting up and keeping in place an entire state apparatus of terror. The beating was an embarrassment and they tried to keep it quiet unlike Mao who made it known that terror awaited all who oppossed him.

There are some similarities between Meshichists and fascists or communists: mantras, indoctrination, utopian vision, idealized leader.
But cults also may use drugs, sleep deprivation, separating followers from outside world, violence, sexual intimidation and Meshichsts don't.
Fascists and communists use the same methods cults use plus physical violence, state oppression, including mass murder.
Meshichists indoctrinate their flock, but we have no evidence to date they use violence, sexual intimidation, drugs, or forceable separation to build a following.
