There are close relatives of mine in the picture.
Yes Berel Kurinetzer's name was Garfinkel.
My uncle Zalman Kurnitzer(Mashgiach in Nevel) was really Alperowitz .
Berel had a chiloni brother in Israel who has passed away.
The youth of Kurenitz was not frum. There were some Orthodox young people but very few.

Rav Yankev Landau was actually rav in K for a short time.
The last Chassidishe rav of K was R. Shlomo Eli Uszpoll father of reb Berel of TTL.
The Kramer family is also from K.
The Malach also spent much time in K.
And of course , lets not forget my uncle R. Zalman Kurenitzer, and landsmen Reb Berel Kurneitzer.

The family of Reb Moshe leizer Kramer the first Nasih of AGUCH in the USA. His children bought 770 and were active in the events of 1927 , 1229-1930 and 1940-41. They were the 1st family of US Chabad until the arrival of the Schneersohns in 1940.
There is an intersting bio in Yiddish and Englsih of the father Reb Moshe Leizer and his good works.

I raise chickens. Each year the first eggs laid for the season (after the winter when the hens stop laying) are smallish, strong shelled eggs called pullet eggs (especially from first time layers) these are coveted by local Ukranian women who decorate them - its called something like "pyszanski" and they pay a premuim for these eggs - so its no surprise that Jews of the area were familiar and perhaps picked up on the tradition
