If anything epitomizes an inverse universe it is blogging. Here the socially inept can tango with the best of them, the journalist wannabes can pontificate to their hearts content and anyone can be anything.

I should say that I approach the lack of community with great sadness. This is something I miss a great deal.

As a person who married an MIT woman, I can attest to the fact that the quote "girls are beautiful in the inverse proportion to the center of the MIT campus…" is more a reflection of the quotee's social skills than the beauty of the MIT women.
Somehow, when a person cannot get a date on campus, their natural conclusion is that the campus girls are not worth his attention.
I think you mean "inversely proportional" ("in the inverse proportion" is just awkward), you would also need to say what is inversely proportional to what. For instance, the beauty of girls at MIT is inversely proportional to your distance from the center of the MIT campus.
