Gravatar this post is just a place holder. I am preparing some notes about the speeches. Particulary Der and Ber.

I heard both speeches but your links and input is appreciated.

Gravatar I was at the Kinus it was much better than previos years. The speaches were nice and even Reb Berel Lazar who is not known as a great speaker did a fine job.

My only complaint was the food was not up to par......

Gravatar You are probably aware that Rembrandt and Rabbi Menashe Ben Israel had an influential relationship. It was MbI's suggestion that led Rembrandt to draw the letters down in 'Belshazzar's Feast'.

Gravatar i know, but what it has to do with this post?

Gravatar Sadly, the Kinus is what happens when madmen lead the blind. I greatly fear that Shluchim are not more "in touch" with kiruv after the annual event.

Gravatar How much time was spent discussing "frum" Lubavitch, which outside if CH is also run by shluchim?

Gravatar Nothing really. is there any hope that Shluchim out there are becoming more up to date with the rest of the world. they have to realize tactics are different than in the seventies.

Gravatar RebelJew can you please elabarate your comment? Why are they not in touch?

Gravatar What is all the criticizm for? Of course there are shluchim who have issues with certain things, but what's this itch to criticize the shlichus establishment? The shluchim are B"H succeeding in hafatzos hamayanos. What more do you want from them?

Gravatar The point is that there seems to be a complete lack of constructive criticism coming from the shluchim themselves. The concentrate only on their success's and seem to take no responsibility and care even less about their failings. There needs to be some balance.

Gravatar Fair enough. But while they have to be willing to criticize themselves, we have to applaud their work!

Gravatar you guys make some good points.

I have spent a couple of weeks on my blog, waxing philosophical on this very subject. Basically, the shluchim spend little time on integration of BTs and little time on trying to understand the "customer experience". Of all people, they need ideas in these areas desparately.

Gravatar integration of BTs is essential. of rote they fall into a second class citizenry and tend to go overboard ala nouveau riche.
the real problem is that they get this fantastic life affermation and their kids, their kids get this old, congealed, ghetto education, and the parents don't understand why the kids cast off the yoke.

Gravatar The best thing about the kinus is,that the shluchim and other "defenders of the faith" are away for shabbos mevorchim, leaving us alone to farbreng with some meaning.

The Rebbe-Almighty said tha the pupose of kinus ha'shluchim-gathering of the emisaries is not to criticize but as a positive reenforcement that they should say "Chazak" (be strong) to each other. I was there last year it's designed to be and generaly is a very positive and uplifting experience.
Besides that what you may not be aware of there are many workshop on various practical topics from how to publicize Moshiach and redemption in the most constructive way to kiruv , community building and fundraising.
You should go and see for yourself.
It's truly amazing to see shluchim from all parts of the world with diverse ideas and outlooks on virtualy everything come together for the common good of the whole Jewish people and ultimatly the whole world.

Gravatar Chabad dictionary

positive - anything that shows Chabad in a good light

negative - anything that shows Chabad in a bad light

E.g. We must emphasize the positive and not dwell on the negative.

Translation: We must only say things that show chabad ina good light and never say anything that shows Chabad in a bad light. If someone says such thing, we must accuse them of being negative, which is bad by definition.
