Jdate is a highly profitable business. It is/was owned by Matchnet which runs an identical site for non-Jews where the subscription rates are HALF the Jewish rates. (They have other match services, including gay match.) Also, some of their advertised features simply don't work. They also take liberties with the profiles that people post on Jdate, without asking for permission.

It is true, Jdate has made some shiduchim possible. But it is a very profitable business (witness their advertising campaign) which gouges customers they deem to be Jewish, desperate and loaded.
